I made Turtle for the
'I Don't Wanna Be ME' custom contest at MustBeJewel's Maryland MLP meet. He's been done for weeks but I had to wait to show him off until after the contest. The rule was to customize a pony into a different type of (non-equine) animal.
I love box tortoises, they are common around the part of NJ where I grew up, and as a kid I had several wild ones as "summer pets" - They'd spend a month or two in a tree stump lined pen out back, getting fat on the slugs we'd catch and lettuce leaves and carrot tops we'd provide from our garden, until they tired of our hospitality and escaped to the forest again. I think they are very special animals and I hold much respect for them. They are low to the ground, yet carry themselves regally. They are quiet and reserved by nature but super intelligent (and since they live so long, probably rather wise!). They are nomadic but always "at home".

I was so shocked that I won a prize!
The competition was fierce, all the entries were incredible ^_^

Turtle started out as a baity Yum Yum flutter. I removed her hair and her ears and molded a shell around her (now 'him') with no-bake modeling compound. His scaley skin, claws, wrinkley neck and beak were 3-D textured using layers of paint and some glue.
Thanks for looking!
