i use the wire too here hun. and the snapping isn't just you. it's actually for many reasons. sometimes it's because you took too much hair, but other time it's because it's been bent in the one spot too much so it just breaks because it's far too weakened. so it's not your fault it keeps snapping; that's just what wire does, that's why you have a spool on hand.

as to the tool-i don't use one so i can't compare if it's better. i've heard that it is, but me, i perfer the wire. yes it snaps, yes it tears up my thumb and pointer finger, but to me, i just find it easy and thereaputic.

and i just saw that someone suggested "stretching" holes? well, for that i actually use a push pin; i also use that to reopen saled holes (from heat or paint) and to add holes (if adding a color streak to a mane). the hole is big enough to get a doubled over 28 gauge wire in and out very easily, and since thge plastic will automaticly "close back up" after a bit, if you pull the hair through it'll "close" around it and it'll fit in snuggly.

that's just my 2 cents. hope it can help you.

I think I get the tool idea now. I might buy one off of Dollyhair because if I spend $50.00 on there my shipping is free. I want to try both methods.

I made a rehairing tool using a large yarn needle with the pointy end shoved into a wooden peg with the very end of the loop in the needle cut out to lock the hair in a 'U' and then just punch the plug back into the hole. It's basically how the manufacturing process at the toy plant does for the hair, just on a slower and smaller scale.

Every so often the U on the tool breaks, but I just pull the old needle out and replace it with a fresh one.

I broke my tool not to long ago, but I was done with my custom and hadn't bothered to fix it. I can make a photo show of how it's made if anyone's interested...

Forgot to mention that dollyhair will now ship you a metal tool instead of wooden (works with collets and a pair of pliers to tighten/untighten). I love it. So easy to change the needles and will take different sizes if you need it.
Only problem is I don't really like the needles dollyhair sends. They're VERY small and don't hold much hair. I'd recommend you either buy the needles made by someone here or make them yourself. Invest in a small fine file too, so you file down the edges of the "U" part to make it smooth.

yeah I saw that on there, Pika... I might buy that one because I'm ordering a big bundle of hair and I get free shipping after $50
