Question about hair for customs

Hi guys!

I'm kind of new to the whole customizing thing (in fact I'm still waiting to find a good bait to get started lol), but I've been on the hunt for hair to use with rehairing the customs. I know you can buy it online, but I was hoping I could just go to the store - but none of the craft stores I've been to sell the right stuff. Is it basically impossible to get it other than online, or is there some sort of specialty shop that sells it? I would appreciate any suggestions! :-)

You can get some hair from stores etc but it will be a limited selection. Perhaps a specialty doll store may have a bigger selection. Other options are dollar store hair extensions, or harvesting hair from other dolls/ponies that have seen better days.

You can also try wig shops. I suspect they only carry kanekalon (which is not the silky nylon of saran hair like you see in most customs now) but it works well for some types of jobs. You can also rehair with other things, like yarn, if you're doing customs and not restorations. It doesn't always have to be that perfect silky nylon hair.

some beauty supply store have hair. craft stores will probably only have like a bag or curly brown hair or something you would see on a porcelain doll.
