The Lubbock area is beautiful! I had so much fun on that road trip last year =D I don't think I could do it very often though, that 9.5 hour drive will kill ya! (And my poor 16 year old truck protests quite a bit through the hill country XD)

Comanche (half way point) has a wonderful little restaurant though with the best turkey sandwich I've ever eaten in my life!

I know! I've only been living here in Lubbock for 3 years now, and love it. I used to live in Round Rock before I moved. I'm well aware of the drive since we take a drive about once or twice a year to go see my family in Round Rock and Austin. We always drive through Comanche but never stop. We usually stop once in Sweetwater just to use the bathroom, and then don't stop until Lampasas to fill up. My car is about the same age and amazingly hasn't totally crapped out, luckily we've just had minor repairs to make. But I have only had it for about 3 years now too.

(Re: car) Wow same here! My grandparents owned it (it's the LITERAL "little old lady drove it to the market on Sundays" car) and my grandma handed it off to me when she got too old to drive (because I'm the youngest in the family and didn't have a car). I think I got in '06 so yeah it's been about 3 years =D Amazingly enough (since I have no life) there's still not even 75k miles on it yet! The road trip to Lubbock was the farthest it had been driven at one time other than the trip to get it down from Nashville.

(Side note: I find it slightly terrifying that going between two cities in the same state is only 200 miles shorter than going to a city that took me through 5 states o_0)

Ugh I'm trying to remember the name of that restaurant now... -searches yellowpages.com- Starbeau's! That's right. It's a little place on the corner of a building, right on Central Ave. It's by like the only street light on Central XD It's sign is a star inside a circle (how genericaly Texan -rolls eyes-) You should stop by next time you go through =D

There's even 3 gas stations in Comanche! (Important piece of information to have considering my car's always just about empty by the time I get there XD)

Wow! I loved driving through Comanche! My brother went to college in Brownwood and we used to drive through there all the time!! That donut shop is the best!

I used to work in Lampasas (Adamsville to be exact), so I am familiar with the area. I would be up for that, or the Houston area (my brother lives in Humble), if plans for the Pony Meet are still on!

Welp if anything is happening, I can't make it unfortunately. Not anytime soon at least. ;3; My poor cat is terribly sick atm and I just don't have the time or energy to try and plan in going to a pony meet anytime soon.

I hope if you guys have one that you have fun.

I sure hope you can get your kitty to start feeling better, I know I would be devastated if something happened to mine. I am not able to do something this year either BUT I was hoping to get something set up for summer time next year for sure. I'm pretty sure I can get my husband to travel to any part of the state if this meet is held elsewhere, since he'll try to do what he can to make sure I'm happy.

Right now we are packing our stuff up to move, which the actual move is next month. Also money is tight because we are saving for our down payment on our house. Then from there we are trying to get me a car so we aren't working with just one vehicle which will take another couple of months.

so are we planning one for this year or next? a year in advance is a bit too long for planning a meet I would think, people can't tell if they can go that far in advance, and some might even forget in such a long time. I personally vote a central location, I thought Ephaba's home was a very reasonable drive. Lubbock is a bit too far west for most of the texans, seeing as we are generally concentrated in Houston/Austin/Dallas.

I'm back in the game now I suppose, unfortunately yet fortunately... it's a bittersweet thing.

I'm with dustygusty however. Going so far west isn't really in my capabilities however there's nothing that says we can't have a couple of different meet ups. There's several anime conventions that are spread out around Texas partly for that same reason (it's just too big :'D Scratch that, Texas can never be *too* big...).

If we're going to do something this summer, I myself am busy a lot of weekends or at least I expect to be. June 27, the weekend of July 4th, and the weekend after that I believe are already booked for me. And if we want to peek into fall, Sept 4 and 5 I've already got plans for as well :'D

Location wise... is there anyone in San Antonio who might be up for hosting? I love it there and I dunno... even if I don't do any other activities out there, it'd be fun. Oh but imagine a quick trip to the Alamo with some of our ponies? *carries Tex on her shoulder*

*sighs* I forget how frustrating and stressful it can be to plan something like this. I didn't say I wanted to have a meet in Lubbock, sure it's pretty here but there is just not that much to do here. (I sure wouldn't mind visitors though since it's just me and my husband, while I have friends that are hundreds of miles away that I don't see but once in a blue moon.) I was hoping someone would want to do something in the Austin area because I have family there and it's probably the only place I can get my husband to go. This year just is not going to happen for me since we are buying a house and we have other expenses to worry about. I personally think it's never to early to start planning especially since I hate last minute stuff, it stresses me out. I didn't want to set a date either because I knew that it's still a ways off. Merr....
