I was tempted to go this year but my husband didn't like the idea of driving a car all the way out there. I believe a few others *coughs* Gusty365, want to make a road trip and make an appearance. I would very much love to do that.
Where it would be is something that does need to be taken into consideration. I would be willing to pay a little bit for a rented hall as long as it was reasonable and announced ahead of time. I think a rented hall would be great. It would take away the stress of many people in your home, your privacy, and perhaps if anything does go wrong it won't be taken as personally. I mean, for someone to do things in your home feels like you've been violated. Maybe a hall would relieve some of that feeling.
I'm sure you have this under wraps as you've held the meet several times but I have put together events with rented spaces before for my sorority in college. Feel free to contact me if you would like to ask me anything and I'll help you as best as I can.

I love Jewels home & the closeness/family feel you get from having the meets there but.....
After all thats been said & done, having it at a hall may be a good thing.
I'll be there no matter where it is. I dont mind paying either. Anything to help.
See what you all have done. I cant wait for the next meet now. Man, its soo far away.
I cant wait to see everyone again!

I'm really hoping to make it to the 2010 one! I have plans to go so not much could stop me
Only advice I have for you right now is if you plan on renting space- you'd obviously have to get a head count a bit earlier than normal to see what sort of accommodation is needed.
I'm definately willing to pay an entrance fee. I know you feel bad charging people but hey- if we're willing to pay, let us help you!
Also if you can, maybe check your local VFW, they're usually attainable for low cost (sometimes you do need to know someone to get one of these places. Not all are like this though lately)
Sometimes places sound good over the phone and then you go there and it's not as big as they say it is :(

I would also really like to come and it would be my first time. I really don't have an opinion on where it is but I don't mind paying a fee or donating ot auctioning or whatever to come. This past meet in Cincinnati was at a community center so I would think it was a reasonable rate, or at least I hope.

I've never been to a meet, and where I am one in Maryland would be... iffy, depending on how well I can master driving on the highway, LOL. That said, I think a rented hall might be a better option, and as long as the attendance fee or what have you is announced in reasonable time from said meet, I think it would be fine. Bit less pony money, but worth it to attend a meet, right?

/me loads up the car with the chataholics signal blazing and drives on over
If it's hosted after school is out *hopefully* me, ringo, gypsydancer and perhaps some more chatters can make it out on the epic road trip to Maryland. It'll be long, but we're up for the challenge :P

As long as we have no other plans (you know, that big tropical vacation :::koff:: DB and I sure hope to come, no matter what the venue. I find it amazing that you and your family open that big beautiful home to a bunch of people, many--most?--of them strangers, who deposit giant buckets full of plastic ponies all over the place (oh wait, never mind, you have at least one *room* full of plastic ponies in that house...).
Seriously, whatever works best for you, Jewel. An entrance fee is something we're willing to pay; it seems only fair, no matter where you hold the meet.

Still searching for possible new locations!
I found a few places that are very cool & are right on the lightrail line, not far from Jewels but.....price, it always come down to price.
