Troops have never left Korea. In fact if you sign more than a 2 year contact you are going to be going to Korea for 1 year to help out at the border (we just missed it the first time, but this time my DH is going to end up over there at some point in time). This isn't something new, it just hasn't been in the news until lately. The US is keeping a close eye on them and they have been for quite a while.

Someone needs to stop him before it's to late. If nothing else he definitly will provoc those loony toons in Korea and the Talibans in Saudi Arabia to do some really horrible stuff.
I wonder when this world will end =/

This has been going on for quite a while now...not a big shock unfortunately. I guess growing up as a child of the cold war one dictator's showing of strength with nukes is as bad as another. My dad told me stories of bomb shelters and bomb drills when he was little. I don't think it will ever come down to that...even China is peeved with current situation. Look at the Cuban missle crisis way back in the day. We can't blame one person (president) for the known dictator's actions, but we can all work together for peace.
Unfortunately, crazy people don't need provoking, they just act...just look at history.

Only two more years left, only two more years left, only two more years left...
Thank god, Cheney has no plans to run for Prez in 2008.
Senator Obama all the way!!!!

Crazy people may not need provoking... but don't you think, with all the threats Korea has made over the years, that if they really meant to launch a nuke at something other than a test target, they'd have done it by now? Truth is, the nuke gives Korea's dictator the heeby-jeebies too. This'll all blow over, you'll see. No point worrying about it anyway... if they really intended to do it, there's nothing you can do to change it. So, live for today.

i wish i really could not worry about it, & may be it would be easier to deal with if i didnt have my 9 month old son to worry about. but all i think is him, if something this bad were to happen. i wonder what i would do do protect him and how i could help him to survive. i dont think about myself, just my baby!
i dont him to go through a nuke war, the suffering & the burning to death!

I don't think you need to worry - they would never nuke the US because they would know that they would be immediately nuked right back. It's a perpetual political standstill.

I wouldn't worry
I wouldn't worry specificially about N. Korea trying to bomb us. From what I understand their Nuclear test was quite small and underground. Yes I am quite sure that they are aware that the US as well as other countries would blow them all into smithereens if they were to bomb any major power. I think the bigger concern would be if they were to threaten a smaller closer country--such as S. Korea ect.
It's just like the Iraq war the first time around--Iraq attacks Kuwait and as Kuwait is our ally we came to their aid. THAT is what I would have more of a fear of here--rather than us melting or dying in nuclear after effects.
If you start to obess about something with so small of a chance of happening or effecting you or your family you can obsess over other things than like horrible car accidents as that is much more likely to be a reality than a nuke being dropped on us in the next minute.

Didn't Korea test some missiles over Japan during the summer? Those weren't nuclear, were they...I never really did get the details on that test, even though they supposedly went through while we were in Kyoto >_>;;
And although I'm by no means an expert on the subject, I agree with the statements rather eloquently made by both tealslippers and girlbuffalo1. Given the diplomacy of the situation, we are in no immediate danger.
