Floating heel shoes!

So, I have a thing for floating heel shoes (also called cantilever heels) and I just found these new ones from Junko Shimada. The problem is though, I have no idea where to find Junko Shimada stuff. Is it only available in her boutiques (in Paris and Japan)? Anyone know if dept. stores, like bloomingdales or saks, carry her stuff? Or other places?

Wow, those are crazy.. They're cute, but I'd probably kill myself in them!

I have absolutely no idea. The major department stores near me do not carry them. I've never seen anything like them in my entire life, and frankly.. they look like torture devices. The human foot should not be walked upon in that manner for any length of time.

United Nude Online Store | Autumn Winter 2007

another blog:

Marc Jacobs S/S 2008 Shoes » Indonesian Fashion Blog & Community

hmm yes no listing of retail outlets anywhere but France and Japan.

junko shimada Biography and profiles of fashion designers

Some of the styles are wild..... covered in flowers like having floral arrangments on the feet...

Those are amazing!! I love the bottom ones. At first I thought they were Vivian Westwood shoes... now THOSE are nuts.

I would venture to say that larger stores wouldn't have them. There might be boutiques in the big cities that have them though.

I believe that her shoes are only sold in the Paris and Japan stores. The embroidered pair is so pretty! Who cares if you can walk in them or not? You can put them up as works of art!

Thanks SS and Sterneglanz. After some more googling it seems like these are not widely available. Bummer. Some of her bags and other things showed up on ebay... maybe they'll make it there at some point

To the folks who are saying the shoes look uncomfortable, if you don't like high heels, then yes, these wouldn't be the shoes for you. But if you wear high heels, these are really no different in terms of feel whilst walking. In fact, they feel closest to wedge shaped heels-- they are actually more stable than regular high heels. I think people just get confused by the "free space"-- the floating is an illusion after all, albeit an effective one!
