Some old pics...

My dad dug out these pics recently, and I thought I'd share. This is the one and only horse I ever owned. She was an auction rescue. She was supposed to be a race horse, but she had a split hoof and was no good for racing (the vet who checked her said it looked like her hoof had been slammed in a stall door when she was a year or younger). She was absolutely INSANE, but she was awesome. I'm probably 12 or 13 in these pics.

Very pretty girl! Then again, I'm partial to TBs (grin) Did you ever know her registered name? I could probably find her pedigree for you if you did. What happened to her rear left?

Cool pics! Ooohh, and check you out, Miss Redhead! :911:
I've always known ya as a blonde, hehee

DB, would you happen to know where you go online to look up a TB's name? I wanted to check up on some of the horses I worked with at the track in the early 90s.

DB - Her registered name was Myrtle's Girl. We called her Pride. Her left rear leg...when she was still on the track she had a traumatic experience which later in life made it impossible for her to be anything but ground tied. We were trailering her somewhere and when we were ready to unload, the person opened the gate before her lead had been untied. She realized the gate was open, stepped back, felt the resistance on her halter, panicked, broke the tie and "shot" out of the back of the trailer. Her left rear leg slipped off the ramp and she sliced her leg open. Lucky girl, she came within a quarter of an inch or so of slicing her tendon. She was laid up a few weeks - penicillin shots and the whole bit, but other than some scarring (that leg was always a little thicker where the cut happened) she was totally fine. Finding those pics...dang..I miss her, an I really miss riding. Haven't actually been on a horse in about 2 years now.

Kar - LOL Yup..I'm back to red now, too....the blonde was an experiment. So glad to have the red back.

Phantasy, I had a free pedigree lookup on my owner's account so I went ahead and pulled her ancestry from the Jockey Club and added it to the public free database at Pedigree Query. She had a large amount of european breeding, including her sire Four Marks from Great Britain. I also added her breeder and her birthday to the pedigree. I don't have a race record though. If you don't know her racing history and think she did race, I'll pay the couple of bucks if you'd like to know what she did.

The pedigree is here:

Myrtles Girl Horse Pedigree

Hover your mouse over the circle with the letter I in it next to her name to see the additional info.

Kar, I'm not quite sure what you're asking. If you know the horses' names you can try pedigreequery.com to see if they have additional info on how they did or if there were offspring (under Reports --> Progeny), also siblings and sometimes earnings. However, if you're hoping to take a trip down memory lane, I encourage you to check out the Chronicles of the Horse (COTH) Racing board. There is a great mix of young and seasoned racing enthusiasts and professionals who remember many of the great, and not so great but still loveable, horses of yesteryear. Racing - Chronicle Forums

DB - Thank you so much for that! No, she never raced. One of her front hooves was perpetually split all the way to the top. So she was never raced. The vet who checked her for me thought it had been slammed in a heavy stall door when she was a yearling or younger. When he X-rayed it, he found out her coffin bone was malformed - deteriorating at the tip - which may have been why the split would never heal. She was totally sound on it, though.
