sorry to hear that. Losing a pet is never easy. I think it's weird to cremate pets though. In my family we've always buried them in the yard and planted a tree or some other flowering bush near or over them. You can always tell in our yard what vegetation has pets near them because they always bloom the biggest and most beautiful.

I agree, I wanted to bury him in our backyard. We have a small fish pond, I wanted to bury him in front of it... but my mother wasn't too happy with that. He was a very big dog.
So we all agreed to keep his ashes instead. I wanted to have something, anything.. to remember him by.

I am so sorry to hear about your loss. My thoughts and prayers go out to you and your family. I know how hard it is to say goodbye to a furry family member, but I'm sure he is at peace and happy making new friends up in heaven and he'll be waiting for you to be reunited with him again someday. He was very lucky to have such a loving family for all his life. I hope wonderful memories of him help to comfort you and big hugs from me!

Sounds like your four legged friend lived a very long and happy life with your family. I'm very sorry to hear of his passing, but sounds like you guys have done some wonderful things to preserve his memory. I'm sure your locket is very beautiful. I've actually kept pieces of our ferrets' hair in their files. *shrugs* I like to go back and look. Nothing weird at all. I know it's a hard time for you, but just remember all the wonderful days you had with your dog.
*big hugs*
RIP sweet Maxx
and say HELLO to my Billy Bob on the bridge.

I am very sorry for your loss. *Big hugs* I was never really attached to any pets until my cat Ryo came along. When he died at the all too soon at the age of 4 I was a mess. We buried him under a nice tree.
My family used to bury our family pets. However, my husband's family cremates their pets then bury the ashes in my mom in law's yard. I found it a little curious at first too, but then again their pets have always been very large dogs.

I am so sorry for your loss, losing a beloved pet is difficult. I had my Atlantis cremated after we had to put her to sleep in 2002. I had never done that before, we had always buried them in our yard. I do like having her with me though, we have moved several times and the thoughts of leaving her behind were too much. She has a ceramic urn with her collar around it, a Lab statue that resembles her and a picture of her in front of it. I keep her on top of my pony cabinet. I think keeping some of his fur was a great idea, I wish I had done that with her. I hope you can find some peace in this difficult time.

Thank you everyone
Yes, we have so many good memories of Maxx.
I printed out some photos of him, and will be putting them around his urn.

I'm so sorry about Maxx. I teared up looking at his picture. My dog is getting older, and I hate to think about a time in my life when she won't be there. I'm sending my thoughts to you, and a scratch behind the ears to Maxx in doggie heaven.

Yep, I teared up too. Just reminded me of my childhood dog. I'm glad Maxx had you and your family as parents because you loved him so much.
~Many hugs~
