Thumbs up FAQ Tip of the week #3 - removing smoke odor from ponies

As quoted from My Little Pony Trading Post - FAQ
Today's tip is:
Removing smoke odor and other smells from ponies
from section My Little Pony Trading Post - FAQ: 3.0 - MLP Care ~ How do I ...

Quote:
Odors from cigarette smoke, cooking fumes, perfume and other fragrances can and do sometimes leech their way into the porous plastic of MLP bodies.

ichigo_pinkchan writes~ When it comes to removing smoke smell from ponies, I've become very good at it. The first time I did it I left the ponies standing in a sealed tupperware container with about an inch and a half of baking soda under their feet. I left them there for a couple weeks, and by the time I got them out (and rinsed 'em off), the smell was nearly gone! The second time I did it, I left the pony sitting in front of an open window for an evening (while the sun was setting). Good as new!

Mintys Mommy writes~ Honestly, I've never had a smell so bad that washing hasn't removed it - I just use the good ol' Soft Scrub w/ Bleach and that's killed all odors for me. I guess I've been lucky!

So Soft Claire writes~ For cigarette smells, I put the affected pony in a ziplock bag with 1/3 full baking soda and leave her for 3 weeks. Then I take her out, put her outside or on a window sill, and the fresh air whisks away the remaining scent. Good as new! I've also heard of using dryer sheets in a baggie with the pony. And cat litter apparently works for some people. I suppose you use it the same way as the baking soda.

Hehe, I wouldn't mind a hitchhiker's guide.

Anyway, Ilfiorelaluna long ago found that a little bit of bleach in a bucket of water worked really well and fast in getting the smoke smell out of ponies. Just do a quick swish and rinse for a minute or two and it's magically gone. I use it all the time for ponies that I don't mind dunking in water. Of course electronics and other mechanisms in ponies may need other care.
