I agree they aren't my favorite... I will probably buy one set of the New Look ponies just to signify "THE END" of my G3 collecting...
Hasbro did say that they will continue to make Art and exclusive ponies geared for adult collectors so we will at least have that to look forward to... I have a feeling they will continue to be in the origninal Core 7 mold like they have been, and NOT in the New Look mold... but this was not confirmed by Hasbro.

THANK YOU. Geezus. There, straight from Hasbro's mouth it's NOT G4. Ugh maybe this stupid argument will be over. I agree with calling them NL but I'm still calling them ugly.
And guys let's not be silly here. That's not Sweetie Belle. It's obviously their pet cat... right? *squints* Looks like a cat. A goldfish cat.

i was thinking of adding "09" or just "9" at the end since they kept saying they were the "2009 look" or whatever. so they'd be the "G3-9s" then? or just "09 PinkiePie" then? *shrug* idk

Generations are, in MLP, a fan appellation; Hasbro doesn't get a vote in the matter. (Hasbro also dreamed up the Core 7 encephalitis ponies in the first place, which I think would invalidate their opinion on anything for all eternity.)
Those who consider the new line G4s are going to label them as such; those who aren't, won't; and neither side can force the other to adopt their terminology.
Therefore: G4 G4 G4, and no one can stop me.

News to report! I asked one of the guys at the table this exact question, if they would be in the molds they are in now or the "new look" mold and he said they would continue to do them in the regular G3 mold, unless, and I quote
"we'd like them in the model" to which I replied that we'd probably like to stick with what we have XD
