Hasbro's opinion on New Design G3 ponies being called G4

I spoke to the folks at Hasbro while at the fair and asked them their opinion on if the newly designed Core 7 ponies would be considered "G4"? They said no. They said it is only considered a new generation if production has stopped, which it hasn't.

When asked what we should call them, they said that they hadn't really thought about it but that the term that they use at Hasbro to refer to them is the "New Look" ponies or the "Pony Friends" line...

So, my suggestion would be to refer to them as G3 New Look, or G3NL...

I'd love to hear your thoughts...

Hmm...well, I refer to them as mules. However, I think that G3 New Look, G3NL, or G3.5 are all acceptable.

I've been referring to them as G3.5 - upgraded* but still the same iteration.

*I use the term upgrade loosely, though. I certainly don't think they were!

I agree with the New Look label. That makes is easier to identify and I'm glad that they definitively answered the "G4" issue.

Is there a reason that Sweetie Belle is so much smaller than the others in that picture? Glad to hear that the issue has been "officially" addressed, but I think some will still refer to them as "G4."

I've been calling them crap, but it's good to see Hasbro resolved the G3/G4 debacle for us.

EDIT: Skig - SB is smaller because she is now the baby, not Pinkie Pie.

I believe she is supposed to be the youngest of the "Pony Friends".
