This 1985 item comes sealed in a Made in Hong Kong bag with the plastic wrap that secured the hair to the Pony is in place and intact. This item was originally a production sample that came from Hong Kong without the box so the Engineers and Designers could see that the production run would be to specifications. The bag looks a bit rough in the photos but the item inside is just like it was when I squirreled it in my workbench 25 years ago.
Whew! Those are some pretty--and pretty expensive--sea ponies! I think both the seller and buyers get kudos on this one!
wow. someone is about $1200 richer. wish i could sell something for that price. i wouldnt spend that much for a single pony, let alone a whole lot. i hope it was worth it for the winner.
I was watching them too. I had not intention of bidding though, I knew they'd go up to a few hundred a piece at least. I bet those samples are better quality than the regular issues were.. and sealed in baggie with stickers and ribbons to boot. The seller was smart to stash those away in his desk when he had the chance. Good stuff
I've been watching them and have spent the week being super jealous of the seller - a former Hasbro employee who just pulled those gorgeous Ponies out of his WORKBENCH?!? Why, oh why, isn't there such a wonderful workbench in my family??

That is too funny. I don't think whoever it was could imagine how much money those things they squirreled away would fetch them one day. They are gorgeous. Too much money for me though but they are oh so pretty. Makes me wonder how many rare finds like this are left in the world.
