Blank ponies *vent*

I do not understand... Hasbro sells the blank D-I-Y ponies on their site for $3.99. Yet I see them offered on ebay and amazon for anywhere from $6 to $16, mostly in the $10 range, with varying rates of shipping. Even one for $27++ (from Netherlands, on ebay).

What's up with that? You could buy several of them from Hasbro for the same cost as one + shipping on ebay or amazon... and you could get more than one from HAsbro before their shipping rate jumped up to the next level. It's not as though they're rare or HTF or sought after or... Umfphm.

I dunno. Just makes me feel grouchy.

All rightey, then... grouches have to be sent to bed to sleep it off.

Haha I totally understand. I'm a bargain hunter myself and that does not make any sense. People post those kinds of prices to hook people that do not know any better. On the other topic, I do agree that grouches need to be sent to bed b/c when I get tired I'm cranky. =) Speaking of...my bed is calling my name...*wanders off* =)

Ah I know what you mean. The art ponies are usually more expensive on ebay too (like as compared to EntertainmentEarth)

Does Hasbro ship internationally? That might be part of the ploy, jacking up the price on international people =/

Yeah, I think they're just trying to take advantage of people who either don't know about the Hasbro site, or maybe can't get them shipped to them by Hasbro. They do have those art ponies and that Junko Mizuno pony on Ebay all the time for MUCH more than they cost on the Hasbro site. That's just evil.

Buyers/Collectors should do their research. It's not like Hasbro's toy shop is a secret thing. If Hasbro won't ship to them, I'm sure they could ask someone to help them out up here by ordering for them & they reimburse. I'm sure that would be cheaper than dropping $27+ on a pony off eBay.

And for the sellers, they are doing nothing but wasting their money on listing fees. The higher you list a starting price on eBay, the higher your listing fee is and you have to pay every time the listing ends & you renew. Eventually the listing fees will surpass the cost they have the pony listed for. So they are doing nothing to themselves but digging a hole. Eventually they will realize that a blank pony doesn't cost that much (they are probably getting it confused with the art ponies that are worth a little more) & either drop the price or drop the listing all together.

Actually, sellers don't pay any fees if the item doesn't sell. And also, sometimes Ebay offers "free listing fees" (or other discounts) for a certain number of items a month that sellers list. I get free listing fees for my auctions, for example.

So anyway, those crazy sellers who list these ponies super high and never sell them are actually not losing any money at all. Doesn't make them any less dumb, though.

I agree with you. Amazon is the worst! Part of it might be that Hasbro doesn't ship internationally, so they're trying to take advantage of people... everyone always is. It's funny how ponies that are sold in stores right now are being offered on ebay for twice as much. Silly people

Hmm....I know that you do at least on eBay motors. The company I worked before, I handled selling our huge inventory of equipment/vehicles/drill rig when our company went bust. So I dealt with those fees a lot. Sometimes, we just have to give up because we were racking up so many fees or come off the asking price.
But the deal with eBay motors (at least for commercial vehicle sells) You have to pay a fee to list...if it doesn't sell you get a one time free listing to post again...and then if it doesn't sell after that, you have to pay continously each time you re-post. Same with listing the vehicles...the higher you start at...the higher your fee is (same way with regular eBay?? I've never sold on regular eBay...just eBay motors--- I figured it was the same with smaller items over on regular eBay so I don't know)

But you are right Teddy...they're still silly dumb :P
