Actually, G2 has Clever Clover at the very least. Forgive me, it's been a long time so I can't recall if there are any others besides him. However, he had the same mold as the ladies and truly his color scheme and mark don't, imo, scream BOY so much so that you couldn't think of him as a lady pony if you were so inclined.
Similarly, I haven't had an issue considering some of the ladies from both the G1 and the G3 line as male instead. Personal preference there.
What I liked so much about the boys in the G1 line were the clydesdale/shire molds. Plus the little plastic hats for the Big Brothers. Not to mention a lot of the boys had some really nice color schemes.
