Wow Kar, I love the mossy ponies, what a fantastic idea to make those.... they are incredible.

The large display is breathtaking, the white anthirriums look so classy....

Ready for some ponies?

With the pics I'll post the captions from the auction booklet.

Please note that not all of the ponies were given captions!

This is Junie Moon's contribution to the pony project.
Quote:
"Junie Moon is the international shopping destination for Blythe Dolls and merchandise, the latest Japanese Doll sensation."

Miss pony is sporting denim bell bottom cuffs with patches on them, a hippie style forehead braid, flowers in her hair, and a doll on her back! Funny, I thought Blythes were an american doll, from the late 60's early 70's.. I love her little tambourine, and the leaf in the mouth! XD

This pony is by Klor (123 Klan)
Quote:
Klor has been a graffiti artist since 1989 and was one of the first artists ever to blend graffiti writing and graphic art, forming a new creative medium.

A rep from Klor was there at the show, but I didn't care to speak to her.

Give my regards to Broadway!
Deborah Gibson's pony had fragments of Playbill pasted all over her:
Quote:
Known as the "Original Pop Princess", Deborah Gibson is a multi-platinum singer-songwriter and star of Broadway, television, and film.

more pics on the way

Oooh SCORE!
You know names of flowers, that's AWESOME!

Since you bring it up, I'll go ahead and describe the rest of the bouquet.
It was Caramel Coffee's suggestion to use all white flowers. I'm glad I listened to her, the effect was classy, indeed!

On the right side near the bottom are some huge phalaenopsis orchids, and the tall spikey ones are hybrid delphinium (name comes from Latin, 'delphine' = dolphin. The florets have pointy noses like a dolphin's bill) Also used were calla lilies! You can see them better in the shots taken at Metrocard's apt where we were prepping.

ZOMG Dead PWNY! Or maybe he's just LOVESTRUCK

This one's by Jim Houser
Quote:
Philadelphia Artist Jim Houser designs skate decks for Toy Machines and creates his own installations, which often feature cartoon imagery and poetic phrases.

LOL - I thought this was supposed to be a little star, and remarked how cute it was. Then someone explained it to me....

You pony customizers out there, take note - You'll notice a lot of sharp clean lines on the designs of these art show ponies. The secret is tape...
I dunno, like, special cut-out-and-stick-it-on-and-paint-area-then-peel-it-off art tape. I am so going to try this, because I love the results you get with it. I can't paint a straight line to save my life.

Here's the mother of all Twinkle Hopes!

Quote:
TWINKLE HOPE was designed on behalf of Give Kids The World Village, the project's charitable partner. GKTW is the non-profit organization that provides week-long vacations to Central Florida to children with life-threatening illnesses and their families.

This gal actually twinkles under the light - She's very sparkly because she's encrusted with rhinestones of varying sizes. Oooh, aaaaah. This would be an awesome one to win at auction, being a prototype and all.

The one on display at the Rhode Island MLP Fair didn't have twinkly stones in it, or did it?
Can anyone remember? *scratches head* I don't think she did!

Film of twinkling in action...

I gotta say, this one was pretty awesome to behold.

Here's LeAnn Rimes' gal:

Quote:
A multi-platinum country pop singer and songwriter, LeAnn Rimes is the youngest person to win a Grammy award and the first country artist to win the Grammy for Best New Artist.

This one had a crowd around her for the entire evening, and with good reason, she's really really well done! What I liked best about it was the porcelain-like finish, and her simple, well composed designs that are sort of like tattoos? The muted colors in her hair were lovely as well.
