I have a question about postage - how does everyone work it out? I use the royal mail site, but never seem to get it right, and keep loosing money on postage!

Best thing is of course to take your package to the post office and ask them how much it will be. If you can't, it's best to err on the side of caution and quote the higher shipping price if you're not sure, and perhaps refund the money you 'overcharged'.

Personally, I wouldn't want a seller to loose out so I don't mind paying a little extra initially.

I just use the canada post site. It's usually pretty accurate. I just assume that every pony is .25 kg. and it hasn't steered me wrong yet.

well i had a look at the paypal postage thing that looks pretty good - though it looks like you have to go to the PO in anycase to get your print out stamped just incase something goes wrong.

Its a pain, as I can post from work if I print them out.

has anyone else used paypal postage?

I haven't used paypal postage before I usually go to the post office for a quote.

I use PayPal postage and RM's SmartStamp for the majority of my postage, it is great for nearly everything bar recorded, special delivery or an item too big to go into the post box in which case it can only be done at the PO

I invested in a letter size guide, I picked up an official Royal Mail one from Ebay for around £10 I think as it is fantastic for working out what is letter, large letter or packet. Great if you post out lots like me, definitely worth the tenner I paid!

Also some scales are very handy

If your item is over 25mm thickness then it will be sent via packet, anything under is large letter format. Very little fits through the letter size (5mm thickness) other than um well, a straight forward letter! LOL

I hope that helps! LOL
