Ebay ? Isnt this against the rules?

I just won a book for $2.25 and the shipping was $2.50. Im waiting on a couple of my auctions to end before i pay which is only a few hours later. Well, i just got an invoice with the shipping price raised to $4.00! I absolutely refuse to pay that when there are buy it now auctions where i can pay less. But i thought this wasnt allowed anyways?

Forgot to mention that. Sorry... I requested another invoice and included a msg stating that the orginal shipping was only $2.25 and they just sent me another invoice with $4.00 as the shipping again and no msg. So i just sent a regular msg through ebay stating that if shipping isnt what it was when i won the item then i no longer want it.

Im beginning to think that the book didnt go as high as they wanted it to so they're trying to make profit on shipping. Ive never had someone raise the shipping cost on me. I didnt even know they could do that.

Im really thinking about trying to contact ebay but i doubt they'll be of any help....

I would open up a complaint, then. the sooner the better so the seller can't open up a non paying bidder complaint.

I think they were just trying to pull one over on me. This whole time i havent recieved one msg back from them just invoices. Well this last msg i sent that was pretty blunt must've did it b/c i just got another invoice with the right amount on it. Might i add that the seller only has one feedback. Idk if that has anything to do with it or not....

ETA:
Another update! I just recieved this msg from the seller. Copied and pasted:

Fine I reset it for the $2.25 shipping cost. I found out that it will cost me the $4.00 for the shipping because of the size of the book.

This sounds pretty rude to me. Im beginning to wish they wouldve just cancelled my bid :( I really dont know what to do now. I guess i have to pay and hope that the book arrives or arrives in the like new condition that was stated.

Ive got kind of a sick feeling to my stomach now. Ugh :(

And to think, if they wouldve just msged me the problem right off hand i wouldve understood and let them cancel and relist. Im really a very easy to get along with person.

If the seller brought the shipping down for you I think you'd risk a non-payment report if you backed out now. Had the seller not lowered it you could've reported it to eBay and gotten out of it.

That's just too bad. They advertised one price and changing it is not allowed. Let them be huffy; it isn't your fault. <3

Quietly pay for the book with the $2.50 shipping and wait for it to arrive. Besides a snippy e-mail I doubt you have much to worry about. If the off-chance they don't ship, or they damage your item out of spite you have paypal there to refund your money.

yeah, it's the seller's problem - not your's. they should have researched it a little more before listing the item. when I under quote shipping, I eat the cost. it's my fault, not the buyer.

live and learn. they'll get over it, and next time be a little more careful.
