Dollyhair - Feedback :-(

I ordered goods on the 30th January this year, after becoming interested in customising. This was my first order with dollyhair.com, and indeed my first order with any supplier for this kind of activity. It is now the end of May and I still haven't received anything that I ordered, and have had NO communication from anyone at all. I have sent four emaiils to the email address on the site, and no response.... The website has been updated, so I know that the business owner is active.

I have paid for the items; the amount appears on my bank statement and I am now out $70.00 in cash and goods.

While I like to believe that an owner has the best interest of her business at heart, and I generally give people the benefit of the doubt when things go wrong, I can't help feel that I have been on the recieving end of possibly the worst case of customer service in my consumer experience.

I can't think of any reason why my attempts at communication have not been answered. Unfortunately, my first foray into customising has ended up as a negative experience, and after spending that much money at dollyhair.com, I couldn't afford to get any more from anywhere else.

Never again will I so much as look at dollyhair.com's website. If anyone can recommend a reputable and reliable seller of these products, can you please let me know. I am more than happy to give my money to those who value their customers.

Thank you

Hi Hikari,

Yes, I know she had a baby, which is great, and a busy time for her I imagine. But I've sent four emails. I don't even care if I get a 'Hey guys, just adjusting with a new baby, can you please give me a couple of weeks' email. Anything would be better than nothing, especially when she has had my money for four months.

I am so sorry to hear about this- this is probably one of the worst cases of bad transactions I've heard of, from that site.

Transactions on that site have been going downhill since approximately fall of this last year, when PayPal froze her funds on her account for one reason or another.
Who knows- maybe PayPal froze her account because there too many complaints about missing mohair orders. That would be my guess.

This last September I made a order of regular pony hair and mohair prior to her fallout with PayPal, received the mlp order in the usual 1 week waiting time, but never received the mohair. I emailed her 1 week prior to my dispute time frame, but never received a response.

On other websites, I saw updates from her stating that there were possible mis-communications between her and the Barbie hair/mohair dealers...

If I were her, I would have disabled the order buttons on those products, right then and there. Not leave them up, and take peoples' money without the certainty of being able to fulfill the orders.
I tried emailing her again this March stating I wanted my mohair or a refund, she responded apologetically, but I have received neither of the requests.

I was pregnant last year, had pneumonia for 11 weeks of the pregnancy (relapsed) and was at high-risk of a mis-carriage and I still walked to the post office and shipped out all of my custom pony transactions during that time; not a single one went unattended.

Anyways, hoping that my experience can offer some insight and possible explanations as to why things aren't working out.

I think it's partially poor decisions on the owner's part, however, I hope she's healthy and well and something really super major hasn't gone down with her health, or anything. That would be awful.

Somethings could be excused, while others... would have worked out better if better decisions were executed.

It is all highly unfortunate, and I hope you can find a way to get your $70.00 back. That is quite a chunk of funds to have to miss because someone didn't disable their order functions on their site when they can't keep up with orders.

I closed my transactions entirely when it came time for the birth of my child... which was followed by blood clots... people in business positions just need to properly prepare for these things.

I've never had a problem with dollyhair.com, but in my experience, if you write a threatening email, you'll usually get a reply.

when being polite gets you no where, get angry. it's disappointing when it gets to this stage, but sometimes you need to make an impression to get a response.

there is no excuse for such a lack of communication, especially when $70 is on the line. that is no small chunk o change :( I hope you get it sorted soon.

Thank you for your nice words :-)

I sent her four emails and got nothing back...I've put a complaint in to the international consumer affairs people, but doubt I will have any luck. A $70 lesson learned I guess!

I wouldn't have even minded if she did mess up the orders, or took more orders than she could handle at the time, as long as I had communication stating that. It wouldn't have bothered me at all...better getting my stuff late than not at all, and I understand new babies can be a handful! But she has updated her website and I know she is still taking orders. Ah well, in the scheme of things it is not such a big problem, but she has lost future purchases from me.

Do you happen to know of somewhere else that is good that I can have another go with? I would still really like to have a go at customising. I have the ponies all ready...I just need the equipment!

Thank you again.

restoredoll.com also sells hair but its not nylon hair like real MLP, it's katsilk and has a different texture to it.

Thank you for your suggestions. Still nothing, so I think I have pretty well seen the last of my money.

I will check out those websites. Moonwillow, the site you linked has been mentioned in another post....I believe that is Tina (owner of dollyhair.com) M's sister who buys hair cheaper from Tina and sells is. If I remember correctly, the reason she set up this website was to sell to 'people who didn't want to buy from her sister because she had made them upset'. Should have seen the red flag then.

But thank you again for taking the time to post. I will have a look at restoredoll
