I lost my original paypal account because of a credit card fraud while I wasn't actively buying or selling. I had an email address dedicated to online transactions, housing my ebay and paypal accounts and any other auction sites, MH$P, etc, etc. Because of that, when I wasn't buying or selling, I didn't check it... why would I?
Apparently, someone else registered for paypal using my CC details. Paypal sent me an email, stating that if I did not verify my identity with them, my account would be closed. Obviously, I never saw it in their 'time period' because I didn't use it until I went to pay for stuff after my now hubby proposed and we started collecting bits and pieces for the invites and stuff... and what the?! the time period had passed, and my account had been permanently suspended. No amount of phone calls, id, nothing could sway them. grr. I now have my new cc and my paypal is linked to my main email acc, and forward paypal emails to the other acc, since I couldn't re-register with the same email or cc number...
Paypal sucks. They could have told me simply that it was a no-go the first time I called, but no. It wasn't like I was paying through the nose for several international calls or anything!!!! But it took 3 long, drawn-out, argumentative, denial filled phone conversations with an overseas, foreign-sounding, frustrating individual before I got absolutely nothing, after faxing id and everything completely needlessly. Verification takes.. forever. It's infuriating. Oh, and be prepared to be out on hold. A lot.
I'm feeling super sorry for you right now. I'm sending all of my patience your way!
*sorry hubby, but you're just going to have to be snapped at*
