I am mainly a G1 collector, and I display my ponies so I am one of those picky collectors
Flaws that don't fly with me:
~ Hair cuts
~ Frizzy hair
~ Missing plugs
~ Cancer/ smooze/ mold
~ Obvious marks on the body, under hooves is fine in most cases
~ Chew marks, dents, cuts, etc
~ Smell that shouldn't be there
So basically NM/ Mint ponies only
