Annoyed with the new "Big Head" Ponies?

My cousin and I have been collecting ponies since we were little and we are both irritated with the new "big head ponies." We both laughingly decided to boycott these "g4's" (If that is what they are called, I'm not sure...)

I miss my G1 1980's ponies :( I think it would be way cool for some remakes to come out-kinda like those Barbie remakes that are coming back.

Anybody else annoyed with this Bratz style take over? I was really happy to see Littlest Pet Shop come back but my hopes diminished with their gigantic heads. Is this some attempt to keep kids from choking? (not that any normal child could possibly choak on a MLP-their mouth would have to be enormous) I don't know but I survived with the original tiny toys like Kitty in my Pocket, Littlest Pet Shop and their attatched pieces.

Needless to say I was extremely disappointed when My little Pony took the "big head" look. Come on MLP we want our good 'ol ponies back! This isn't even anatomically correct!

I'm so glad I'm not the only one thinking that Brats are taking over, and properly played with one of the new ones on the weekend and they aren't as nice.
And I thought the original G3's had big heads but no, they got bigger!

I wasn't fond of the G3's either but was just coming around to liking them then-BAM big head ponies arrive! Ugh!

Thanks for your input, nice to know there's another sane person out there ;)

I absolutely hate the "big head" syndrome that most girls toys have these days. I was also very disappointed with the new LPS and G3.5 MLP. Even SS has kind of got the big head little body...but they always were like that from the 70s. I am just glad they haven't done anything drastic like that to Rainbow Brite. I think girls toys today are very superficial, cheap and kind of scary most of the time.

Exactly, they seem to be going for the paris hilton bobble head look! Its just not nice!

UGH! I too am upset by the G4 ponies. Why do companies think that HUGE eyes on an already big head on a TINY body is pretty? Cause as far as I can tell, most people hate that! It's unrealistic, and it's not even cute. so why bother? I'm just glad the "exclusive ponies" are still in G3 mode, cause I love G3. XD

Annoyed? Nope! I wish the 3.5s came in more than just core 7!
And I prefer the G3 and G3.5s over the G1s and the chubby things were a large part of my childhood.

I'm also perfectly sane, I just have different tastes and they appeal to me more.

They don't even look like ponies...neither do those new new ones coming out...the ones that have cheap plastic with showing seams and angry eyes...I'm so sad about it...I'd rather see the MLP line canceled than watch it jump the shark like this.

I collect G3s. The day I saw that the G3.5s have taken over in a favourite store, I felt so lost.

Then went I came home and realized they were gonna be stuck with 7 characters... it was... so depressing.

I hate how these things don't even resemble equines, but I guess if they came in more characters, I would somehow like something, but it looks like it's not going to happen.

And really... the baby G3.5s are just so wrong... What... are those things?

End rant.

I like them. I don't know why, but I do. I didn't at first, but when I actually had one (Star Song) and saw her on my shelf....she won me over. I wish I had a Toola Roola....that would complete my set.

Yes I hate core 7 too and Littlest Pet Shop, I really can't stand it, hasbro please, we just want our G1's back! I also started a group about hating core 7 so please join!

Trust me, You aren't the only one who hates these ponies. I've not spent a cent on them myself! Sooo ugly!

I definitely have noticed the big heads and big eyes on most of the girls toys. Just last weekend, my mom and I got to K-Mart just as a big storm came through. We didn't want to go outside until it settled down, so we went to the toy section to look around. Almost every toy I played with as a kid looks like those stupid Bratz dolls. Even the Barbies all seemed to have much bigger heads than they used to.

I really don't care much for the G3.5's but I do have several. I ended up with all of them except for Rainbow Dash, but now I can't find one except for the glittery one with tinsel in her hair. I wanted the first version or at least the TAF (the ones that came with a DVD) of her, but I guess that won't happen. I'd even settle for the one with super long hair, but I was waiting for the one with the Curly Pie bonus, but it never came out here. Either way, I'll probably buy the set with Scootaloo & Cheerilee's mom once it comes out, but I think that's it for the G3.5s. I'm still undecided on the G4s, but after seeing that evil looking unipeg, I don't have high expectations for it.

I do have to say I got my daughter a package of two for Christmas thinking that it was some sorta temporary pony look. She has gotten a few more for her birthday and stuff but I still love the oldies! It was awfully annoying when I realized the big heads are here to stay.

Since the new ponies came out I have really started going out of my way to thrift stores, garage sales, and here to collect ponies. We have so much fun collecting and this site is great, meeting other pony people and finding different ponies. I have even started customizing them too.

When I was a kid I wasn't really into ponies, I liked Mattel Pretty Kitties. When I'd play with my horses I'd just make them eat grass and get bored LOL! But now I've got the pony craze! I love anything that is bright and colorful, my scrubs for work are obnoxios and mostly consist of pink :D I love ponies, I love cleaning them, setting them out and looking at them all over my living room floor (as my husband cowers in the corner as if being attacked!) getting different kinds, ones with wings, sparkle ponies, So Soft ponies-they are just really exciting! I'm such a nerd :D

Thank goodness they're changing styles again!!!No more big heads!(hopefully)

I walked into walgreens today and there was a shelf labeled TY, the beanie baby company....and on the shelves were beanie babies with big heads and big eyes. I was like NOOOOOOO!!!! Not you too TY!

What about G2s??

I'm with the majority here - I was horrified to see the G4 ponies in my local store. I love the G1s (including the sweethearts!), G3s and have a real soft-spot for the G2s who seem to be the beautiful underdogs of the MLP world.

Are these big-headed ponies taking over from the G3s, do we know?

I think childrens' toys are going to this big-headed look as it's the toy equivalent of size zero - a tiny body makes the head & particularly the eyes, look huge - like a puppy/kitten.

I think these toys are sending out the wrong psychological message - or do I just need my second cup of coffee? :sunny:
