I've discovered that the word Brony has different meanings, depending, of course, on what you were told when you first heard about it.

For me it was described as a general MLP fan name, but since then I've heard other meanings. To me, its WAY too cool to let any one group claim it. It should belong TO THE PEOPLE! XD

WE"RE TAKING IT BACK, DANGIT!

So I'd like to see what everyone else thinks. <3

I think those that are fans of FiM exclusively, and post on FiM boards, Equestria Daily etc. are bronies regardless of gender. There are little girls who watch FiM only and I don't see them as bronies. I guess you can call me a little bit of a brony because I got into MLP through FiM and ocasionally post on Ponychan (though it can get pretty hectic sometimes).

The bronies I've seen, while they often fall into the *chan crowd, are very rarely trolls. They're just jokers who like discussion.

Also funny story: I was searching for bronies on Google and it came up saying "did you mean brownies" mmm, bronie- I mean brownies.

XD That's where I got the last option from. My pal did the Google search and told me.

To me it's a bit more complicated. Bronies to me means male my little pony fans who were brought to the community/pony world because of FiM. We have many long standing male members who have always been collectors and I don't consider them to be bronies.

im sure brony was used before fim to describe male collectors... idk i could be remembering wrong, but im sure it goes back way before fim lol

Brony is not a male only term. It's a term that originated on the comic section (/co/) of a certain infamous NSFW 18+ board, *****, and later expanded to all ***** pony fans. It originated from the meme of calling people 'bro' (I.E. 'Cool Story, Bro.') combined with the FiM theme of making words pony-related.

I would call myself a brony even though I am female. It's related more so to the sites you hang out on than the pony collecting hobby. Bronies tend to like FiM only, but some like the toys and get over here as well.

You wouldn't call yourself a TPer if you didn't go here on the MLPTP would you? Or call yourself an arena member if you didn't go to the MLPArena? Same thing.

THIS. The FiM fandom invented the term, so I think they get dibs on it. But I think narrowing it down to gender is when it gets unfair.

I'm a girl, but I consider myself a brony because I love the show and go on the FiM-exclusive sites. However, I also consider myself a Pony Fan, as in I love the toys and collect all the generations, not just G4.

being a male MLP collector, i don't like that word... o_O makes me think ANYTHING but ponies lol

While I think it's more generally used to describe male fans, I don't think it's male only. At one time, I considered myself a brony! I think brony means more of a FiM-only fan, one who doesn't like the other generations much at all.

I don't know but I have been a collector of G1's for over 10 years and this is the first year I have heard that term. I don't go out of my way to find out new terms however.

Bro-ny to me sounds like the mixture of brother and pony put together which seems male but who knows. I have heard so many different things about the term I really don't know if anyone knows. All I do know is that it reminds me of a WWF term used by The Rock and makes me laugh.

To me, Brony is a term for a male FIM fan. We had male collectors in the community long before FIM, and the term was never brought up until now. Personally (and correct me if I'm wrong), most Bronies don't actively collect the toys, they simply love the show and have fun with it on the net, and so forth. *shrug*

Me? I be kickin' it old-skool with a house full of colorful ponies. :D

an old tp member might remember this.... if im remembering right the male pony fans did call themselves somethng before fim? or am i making this up?

I think it can mean them all, I think it fits the 'male pony' fans more though XD
but I've seen alot of fans use it so whatever! its everything! XD
