My cervical vertebrae, neck, has a reversed curvature. The bones themselves have slowly been changing shape and will eventually put pressure on my spinal cord, slowing the blood circulation. 20+ years of physical therapy, and so many doctors. Chiropractic and massage feel great, but only offer temporary relief. I was told to do yoga. It's not working either. Does anyone know what they do if the curve reverses too far? I'm a little loathe to research it just to find all those worst case scenarios...

I'm afraid I know nothing about it. But you're right, looking it up will harvest mainly horror stories that are incredibly rare cases, but sensationalized to make it seem like it's an every day event.

Once I looked up 'tonsil stones' for a friend and all I got were cancer pics. Tons and tons of cancer pics. Geesh.

Yes, I love mine. I have a noodle for my upper back and several therabands for shoulder and wrist strengthening. I also probably know every core strengthening exercise in existence. Lol.

My hives are finally acceptable again. Last night it was just like acid or chemical burns. So my neck will play a out as it will. Evelyn can learn to drive in 6 years. So it's just the broken toe. It's the same place as last time. Go me!

If yoga doesn't work for you, then it doesn't work for you. I used to do it myself on video.

It felt good. I love stretching, but, yeah, too expensive and not helping more than meditation at home free. ;)

I love Tai Chi

Eh. I do it at home. Used to do tai chi too. You don't hafta pay big bucks to do either. I've got a book somewhere for beginners yoga, I'll copy it for you and send it your way. Its very soothing.

My dad does tai chi. It's helped him with his flexibility and balance so much. It's in the evening, though, and I can't bring Evelyn, so no can do.
The yoga I would like to start working on because it's more core strength based balance. I'm still very flexible. I used to be able to lay on one side, we'll say my left side, and then raise my right leg always pointed straight out to the ceiling at my side and I could bring it down to the floor behind my head. Not quite gymnast level, but naturally very bendy. I can still easily grab my foot and hold my leg up to the side. Balancing in yoga swaps difficult since I'm used to standing with flat turn out and they want toes forward. It uses such different muscle groups. I think it's more the meditation and relaxation aspect that I need to focus on. My doctor even said that it was so I'd relax. I have so much pain in my spine and have always stood up straight, but it was too rigid and for too long so my neck bones have changed shape. These are just Google pictures, but they show somewhat of what's going on. A healthy neck curve looks like this.

My neck xray looks more like this except the fronts of the vertebrate are becoming concave in front. On me, the lowest vertebrae in the 7 cervical vertebrae, c7, that's the one that usually sticks out a bit. Mine doesn't, at all. My spine is quite literally straight from the t3 (thoracic vertebrae) all the way to my skull. It's probably what is causing the swallowing in addition to my brain injuries. My neck is straighter than the one in this picture.

I purposely didn't look at the "fixes" since they are all surgical and will just make me paranoid.

Does that explain a little more why all my physical therapy for my neck which started when I was 7 hasn't helped. I also have a 45 degree curve from my scoliosis in between my shoulder blades. My right shoulder is visibly higher than my left. Ballet actually helped that and I do my relaxation and strengthening exercises for it.

Oh, I'm seeing a third orthopedic surgeon about my shoulder, too, since it's been almost a year and still no lessening of pain. If anything it hurts more.

I would love that. Anything that can slow the deterioration.

As long as I can still raise my girl, it doesn't matter how much it hurts. She's worth it. :ponylove:

I have a book for Tai Chi too actually. Although I prefer sword to open hand. Step by step and do it yourself.

I prefer archery. Or a blunt instrument.

I like my throwing knives too. Have not done that in awhile.

@Tak: I know a lot of people who have found relief in aqua therapies such as aqua fit or simply old fashioned swimming. Getting the weight and pressure completely off your body can help to alleviate and relax. ;)
Also a super random question; have any of your doctors tested you for Multiple Sclerosis or Thoratic Outlet Syndrome? I ask simply because I have both and symptoms of both are the same if not similar to your situation(s). If they haven’t, I would maybe discuss both the next time your in seeing someone. If they have, I’m happy they are on top of it for you. :)

Thanks I don't think it's ms, but I've never even heard of... thoractic outlet syndrome.

I have graves disease, scoliosis, whiplash twice, 20+ concussions, previous lower back injury, and some non spinal issues.

No No no on yoga for Tulagirl. It messed me up so bad I was months being able to move my body normally again. It literally locked me up from my neck to my ankles. I spent so much money at the doctor trying to stop the inflammatory process I will never darken a Yoga mat, block or Yoga place ever again. I do much better with aquatic therapy.

I agree @tulagirl I enjoyed stretching, but I can do that in the comfort of my own home for free and pretty much all the exercises are ones I learned for physical therapy. My focus is on relaxing meditation. (Again, free! Woohoo!) Not much else to do.

I do hope that you're doing well. Been missing you on here.
