I was updating my price guide like I do every month and I was really shocked by some of the price increases I came across this cycle. I was updating Mummy and Daddy Berrytown and noticing how much they truly increased in price. For example: The average price of Mummy Berrytown 10 years ago was about $15. Now, her average price is $62.

And other ponies I was updating haven't changed much. Concave Bowtie is about the same price as she was 10 years ago. Tornado also hasn't seemed to have changed much in price. Most people still want to pay less than $100 for him.

I've noticed increases across the board in asking prices, though they may not be selling for those prices. One person in particular, while she is a friend, asks ridiculous prices on eBay. I get it though. eBay takes a cut. PayPal takes a cut. Even on shipping. You have to profit somehow. I just wish there were a better way that was fair for both sellers and buyers.

Ya know, sometimes I wonder how much I'm missing out not being on Facebook but this makes me feel a little better LOL The boards and ebay are where I do most my shopping unless I get lucky in the wild. I have always appreciated bluerose's guide too, ebay goes through it's phases, you find shifts in prices around holidays and such but it helps to have an average to let ya know if you're really overpaying.

Soooo... I admit that I have paid close to $50 for a single “rarer” pony. But I did it mostly because it was someone who was looking to help pay off a vet bill from her dog’s bills and the pet didn’t survive it’s illness.

Being the person I am I felt the story and made a purchase. (Also, I really wanted Ploomette and this justified me paying so very much for a single pony.)

So, I guess as long as a sucker like myself is around - princes will always be random. Just set yourself with limits or bad things can happen. For the most part we’re all adults and have done this for ourselves.

I have also bought the rarer pony that isn't exactly cheap but I do shop around and I usually buy off the boards if I can and make sure I'm not overpaying.

I had to google who Ploomette was. I'm pretty sure I have her somewhere in the house (affectionately referred to herein as "the black hole of pony")

Not that sure about G1s... but I've seen that a lot on Mexicans with crazy prices.

And don't let me start on FB groups... seen fakies asking for almost $30.00usd each calling them as OOAK ponies -.-

The FB groups are making me hate the world.

I don't hate the groups by themselves...

What gets on my nerves are people that have no idea what is a pony/fakie/any horse/animal and try to sell them for nth $$ and get angry when pointed they have a really common one, or that the toy in question is a fakie and no more than $5.00usd at most (with its exceptions).

I think the 80's are super trendy right now, toy collecting is becoming trendy, and the prices are reflecting that. Space stuff is trendy, so Nightglider's price has gone up up up. The TaF ponies are very appealing, so those are increasing in price. I think the Rainbow Curls are getting it too. These sets were always popular, right? So the 80s fad is only exponentially increasing those prices.

Facebook can be hit or miss.

There have been multiple times when I tried to find something specific on ebay and it was with at a price I didn't want to spend or it was just gone

Then I ask for it on facebook groups and more people have it and at much lower prices.

Suppose forums work the same as Facebook groups though

Facebook can be great or godawful, just like any gathering of people. I have a couple of groups I hop by every now and then and look in on, but for the most part, i stick to my comic groups there and that's it. I just don't have a lotta time for social media and really, it would surprise you guys, but I'm not very social anyway. :D I'm very shy till I get to know people.

I saw a Rapunzel on EBay go for 1225  Even for Rapunzel that's ridiculous. And the Storage Wars shenanigans might inflate prices too.

Yeah, that Rapunzel was ridiculous. One went the day before for $450. I was in that one, but wouldn't pay over $400.

I was browsing Ebay today when I found this:
23482

What the actual heck!?!?!? Yes, the one the the bottom ($767CAD) has the carriage and accessories but the pony has black marks on her front legs... I’m so happy I bought this girl when I did. Talk about terrible inflation. Wow. Just wow.

I noticed that Ranouzel from earlier went back up with the same description later. Guess whoever won the auction didn’t pay. It went again for a (slightly) more reasonable 785 or so
