I don't like the Mane Six but I sure do like these. They look so much better this way.

Here's the whole article: https://io9.gizmodo.com/hasbro-want...3-oxqxwMc50uDD7GlIKZpFapNyu9OwG5EM4AWyHatLC8g

....Hasbro wants to-go all-in on the ‘80s-tinged pony love with not just a new set of old-school ponies, but their very own YouTube series.

io9 can reveal a first look at My Little Pony: The Retro Show, a new YouTube miniseries that invites MLP fans to bask in the glorious waves of nostalgia, through the means of VHS-scanline-covered clips from the beloved My Little Pony cartoon with snarky commentary over the top. Check out a clip below!....

Why can't Hasbro bring about the long lost episode of adult Firefly and North Star talking about when they were baby ponies? It showed screen shots of the two talking and then a memory flashback with them as babies. I held that VHS in my hands in Montana back in the early 90s. They HAVE to have a copy. I should have stolen that VHS. Now, THAT would be a retro throw back that would bring in a lot of collectors.

* heavy breathing * Oh my gosh I want them.

The retro show is certainly.... something. Are the full episodes like that? The commentary idea had potential, but it didn't really live up to it. I was thinking it'd be more like the High School Musical pop-up things, where they included facts about production and backstory of the show. That would've been interesting.

Personally, would have loved if they used the BF molds, but the set is made by Hasbro, right?
They look cute, but they remind me too much of the 25th Anni McDonalds set, esp the pegasus mold/Twilight. Very cute idea though! Love what they did with their cutie marks/symbols.

Agreed. I don't understand the g3 hate. It's no different than g2? g1? It's a good gen.
There’s a huge difference between G1, G2 and G3. The one that is the odd-ball out of the three is G2. G2, imo, is the most horse like (G1 didn’t really get quite there until SHS).
As I life long G1 collector, I’ve always loved the design and chubby-ness of G1. I love that they’re larger ponies for small hands. They have “basic” but detailed accessories that were unique for the time.
For me, G3 has always been odd to me. I’ve never been a fan of the and probably never will. I love the idea behind a lot of them but I’m not a fan of the moulds (except maybe the Pegasus).

Lol I know there's differences, :p I meant as far as maturity, not much different. G3 is to me, better because the toys were made well. While its a good gen that I love, G2 didn't really bring "classic" characters like g3 did, yet Bronies have no problem with it. It doesn't make sense for them to use the argument of "g3 is so immature" when g2 isn't mature it's self. They are all good, they are all special, and different plot/design wise, but its all got the safe My Little Pony feel to them, so thus using the "it's more classic!" or "it's not girly!" argument makes no sense, since they are all girly. Which isn't a bad thing, but using it as an argument to hate a specific gen when they are all like that is pretty sad.

I love these, apart from the unicorn head mold. The eye looks pretty slapped-on and it's into uncanny valley for me :S I do love Rainbow's symbol. They could've skipped the white cloud and recoloured Firefly's, but I personally don't find the extra colour jarring :satisfied:

Not a fan of the retro show, though. The snarky commentary is unpleasant, and while obviously jokes, sometimes misleading or in poor taste. I especially didn't like "Sprinkle Bottom," "This guy," and "Alligator thing," the implication of Spike and Megan dating, and the bushwoolie over Rosedust's crotch. Also, is it against the rules to complain they're stealing my views? :winkpony:

Hmm. McD Starsong is straighter and her head is twisted to the side, her front legs are also close to her body.

Mishmash TS looks more like a classic rearing pose, with her front legs angled out and back legs splayed for balance. Her head is in the right position.

It looks like they could still fall backwards. :p

I do like that mishmash is more purple then wishy-washy pink.
