Hello Pony Girls! I’m curious how you fix and style your ponies’ hair. I’ve tried a few things that work but I’m always looking to improve and get some really shiny perfect curls. Do you prefer rollers, rags, straws, etc.? Do you use hair products like hairspray or just conditioner?

@Tak gave me some sage advice about using cloth strips and it’s very easy and effective. However I need a little more practice because my curls didn’t come out as perfectly as I’d hoped. I have G1 and G3 ponies but not sure if that makes a difference when it comes to styling.

I would love to hear about your pony beauty routine!

It depends on the kind of curl your looking to achieve.

For tight ringlets I use small straws, for looser ringlets I use smoothie straws (I keep and reuse them constantly).

For bigger more loose curls I use actual human curlers with foam on them and they lock on themselves.

I often just wrap pony hair around the back legs and neck with some paper towel to absorb the excess water...

Then there’s the old twist and hold with clips (you know the old school butterfly clips ;) ).

As far as getting hair shiny. You really have to shampoo and condition in HOT water. Sometimes you have to do it more than once and at times you may have to leave conditioner in for longer periods of time. I’ve also had a lot of success with doing coconut oil treatments in my really dry pony hair and had great results.
I hope this is somewhat helpful for you. :)

Thank you so much for sharing! That is very helpful and I appreciate the photos too. I will definitely try these methods as well. How long do you usually like to leave the conditioner in?

It depends on how bad the hair is. On minimum I keep it in for five minutes max I’ve done is over night after a coconut oil treatment.
