Angel of Valhalla Chocobo
Also adding to this thread, commissioned Pink Lightning Chocobo ^3^
Commissioned request of the Angel of Valhalla Chocobo from the Play Station 3 video game Final Fantasy XIII: Lightning Returns.
Requested pony base is of the g4 Princess Celestia. I used a hard-haired mold, popped the mane and tail off after some careful incisions via exacto blade.
Laid down a base coat of Gesso to prime for the paint, a texture for the acrylics to bond to over the pony.
Started paint work with base coats of lemon chiffon pale yellow acrylics, with antique cream white over top. Painted eyes in black, browns, red, grays and beak in creams, yellows, oranges and light browns.
Painted the hoof armor of Celestia the color of chocobo claws, in medium to dark browns.
Cut the wings off after the paint work was done, and re-positioned them downward to more closely match the chocobo.
Added white feathers into the tail hole, on the back and in the mane. Glued them in place, and brushed the tips gently with neon green acrylic paint.
All paint work sealed in Artists Varnish.
Ironically, this was completed week prior to Thanksgiving! Happy Turkey Day Everypony~
Perfect time of year to have Chocobo projects. ^___^

EDIT Pink Lightning Chocobo added to this commission~
Pink Lightning Chocobo Pony
Commissioned request of…. Lightning Ferron from the Play Station 3 video game Final Fantasy XIII, to be designed…. As… a pink chocobo. As a custom pony figure.
Also pictured is a Angel of Valhalla commissioned request~
This is a bit of a paradox, I’ll tell you. I typically do Lightning custom ponies, and chocobo ponies, but… a Lightning Chocobo Pony? It now exists~ among the other Lightning Ferron ponies I’ve done, and chocobos as well. XD
Requested pony base used is a Princess Twilight Sparkle alicorn base.
Cut off the horn and stashed it away for future projects, then cut the wings off and re-positioned them downward for a more accurate and flattering dynamic for the chocobo/pony transformation.
Did a base coat of Gesso to prime the pony plastic for the acrylics to adhere to.
Body paint is done in candy tuft pink acrylics, hooves painted the color of chocobo talons, beak painted in light browns, yellows, oranges and gold acrylics.
Eyes, for the whites, iris and pupils I kept Hasbro-style but painted over them in my methods, and in Lightning’s eye color. Then I layered a texture for the lashes that is of my own realism style. Wanted to keep this cutsie for the chocobo concept, yet alluring and elegant since it’s Lightning.
All paint work is sealed in Artists Varnish.
Glued flaming pink and candy tuft pink dyed feathers in the tail/mane.
Necklace was requested to be of Lightning’s necklace from ffXIII.
Cut strips of silver leather and glued it to a nickel gray ribbon. Got out blue and bronze-colored square rhinestones and a magenta pearl rhinestone for the colored details. Gray ribbon is then glued around a gold chain that is fastened around the neck.
Signed the piece on bottom of hooves, and under one of the wings~
Signatures sealed in Tacky Glue.
