Most of my ponies live in the basement, and I was planning on putting them each in a ziplock baggie. Will this prevent mold from starting as well as spreading?

Hi there,

I'm sure they will be fine, just as long as you remember to make sure that they are all 100% DRY before you ziplock them. If you don't, the mould may grow faster than ever.

Is your basement dank and dark by any chance?

I wouldn't say dank and dark, but it certainly isn't lovely :p
I was planning on cleaning them all first, so I guess letting them dry for a week would do good?

Hi there,

Well, if you let them dry for a week, make sure you take their heads off and position the body somewhere where the holes are pointed towards the floor for drainage.

If their heads don't come off, hang them on a clothes line or something with their tails pointed towards the floor. The water will drain out the tail hole. But just make sure you have tried to squeeze out all the excess water that you can before doing this.

For the ones with their heads still on, you may need to leave them for more than a week if necessary.

This is what I would do! Good luck. ;)

I don't know if the basement is the best place for ponies. But if you got no other place to put them I guess plastic bags are the best alternative.
Just make sure they are really seald up. The inside of plasticbag can become moisty as well and make the pony the same... =/

Yuixe - Does it really take more than a week for a pony to dry up if her head is still on?
Mine are always pretty dry after just 3 days. I do let them stand out for a week though just in case.

Hi there,

Well, Desert Rose - I have a Sweet Breeze that was washed two or three weeks ago and her tail is still not dry! o_O Then again, she isn't hanging upside down, so I dunno.

That's just my guess.
