Hello! I'm planning on making two monster high dolls, one an crab-girl, and one a goat-girl. I know im going to have to use clay,, and can i bake the doll with sculpey on it? do they rehair the same way as mlp dolls, or are they different? i know they use saran hair, but is it easy to manage, and where can i purchase some?is it easier to add clay add-ons first before rehairing, or after? any and all advice will help, and im so sorry if this is the wrong section!!

I'm not 100% on this, but from every person I've talked to baking the dolls is not advisable; air dry clay is much preferred.
Rehairing is exactly the same as ponies (besides lots of more plugs lol).
I don't know much about hair, so I can't help much there. However, do know that some MH dolls use kanekalon, which is similar to saran but has different properties (i.e. takes curls more easily, but also burns more easily.) The sites dollyhair and mylittlecustoms are often used by customizers.
I'm not quite sure about the answer to your last question. Personally, I would rehair first, but I'm not sure if that's the right way to do it.
Hope I could be of help!

I'd avoid baking the dolls as the plastic they are made of is not very thick and it would melt at elevated temperatures. Air dry clay would be an option?

ok, thank you, both of you
i will have to pick up some air dry clay then, thank you

Or Plumber's Putty (Fix-a-Stick).

It's an air-dry epoxy that dries in 6 minutes and can be sanded and painted.
Local Home Depot or Leows.

I use air dry clay, also on the hair, I use about a hank & 1/2 (dollyhair or retro dolls) to fill the head, one hank works if you are doing a permanent pony tail or pig tails, u can cut out some of the hair use ;)

They are so much fun! Can't wait to see pictures :)
