With the Quarantine and massive job loss, people (in America) have time to reflect on their Career.
If it is not too personal...
Are you working right now? If so, as what?
What is your Dream Job? Why?

I'm not working now. I'm in the Epicenter of the Pandemic (for America).

When I was in High School, I wanted to be a Travel Agent and/or Tour Guide. After 9/11 there weren't many vacationers and tourism went way down...

For NYC, that may happen again (due to restaurants and theatrical plays needing to space customers/clients out). NYC should relatively bounce back in time...

Now, I have time to reflect...
Has anyone else thought about their Jobs or Careers?

My dream career was always, always, a ballerina. I achieved it. If only for a month. I'm good with just being mom and crazy now.

Although, I think I would be great at digitalizing old books. I'm so ocd over all the typos, even the names get switched sometimes. If I had a real computer with a keyboard and a book to type in, or copy editing, I could possibly do it. As long as there is little to no contact with people.

I had a baby in november so i am on baby leave in all of this chaos, which i am truly grateful for so i can keep the other 2 boys as home without worries. I'm a verger in 3 churches, and have been for the past 11 years. what i love about my job is i get to do most of it on my own so i wouldn't have really been affected by any of this apart from the mass on sunday being cancelled, no weddings and funerals needing more attention i suppose.

It is possible that (once the Corona Virus Pandemic ends) All of the postponed Funerals and Weddings will make your job extra busy...

I'm a Japanese-English interpreter for an automotive company. I was working from home until yesterday, but actually just got put on furlough for two weeks. Not surprisingly, they're not selling many cars right now, so apparently they can't afford to pay their employees.

I'm actually kind of happy about it though, because honestly, I don't like my job. I like interpreting, but had never worked in the automotive industry before I started this job just over a year ago now, and I've realized it really just doesn't interest me. I'm a right-brained artsy kind of person, and the automotive industry is really not the place for someone like me. I'm also very much a free spirit and don't like having a traditional corporate job in general. So yeah, I'm definitely rethinking my career, but was doing so even before all this happened.

I'm not worried about not getting paid for two weeks because I have savings, and I can get unemployment too. I have a couple different side hustles going that I'm hoping to eventually support myself with full time so I can leave my job, so I intend to use these two weeks to work on those. I have plenty to keep myself busy!

@cannibalcow I didn't know what a verger is until now and had to look it up. You learn something new every day!

Definitely will be. So many things being postponed we will be busy busy busy

I had no idea 11 years ago either  It's a great job!

I do work my dream job. I mean, when there isn't a pandemic of course... I run an indie record label and work in the music and art world. I've performed in bands for many years, most recently singing and composing music in Crooked Ghost, which is my main passion. I've also produced music, did a couple independent films, some PR work, and curated art exhibitions for my own art and other artists. I'm always technically "working" as I am constantly creating and planning the next stage show. I was supposed to be on tour right now, and I really miss my bandmates! My husband (who is bassist of my band) and I have been working on other music on the side, which has been freeing. I just hope we can all safely tour again in the future cause livestreams are just not the same.

I have dream jobs ... there are so many interesting things to do, I feel like I would love to try all of them if I had the money and the time! Veterinaria, genetics counselor, dance choreographer. Just for a few ....:)

My first dream job was steamship captain. At the time, the navigation company I wanted to work for was misogynistic, they didn't allow women on steamers, just on motor ships. I'm still a huge steamship buff though. :)

Since then, I've wanted to become a biologist, but somehow ended up in IT, as there isn't any appropriate adult education available for people already working in another field. I would have to go the normal way, which would mean to go University with youngsters who could be my children for at least five years, so I decided against it. There is just one further training available in the nature conservancy field that would potentially interest me, but education costs are exorbitant and wages would be low, as the diploma is only apprenticeship level. The jobs that interest me all ask for an academic degree, so that's not an option either.

So I guess I'll stay in IT. I'm currently doing further education in my field of work and will graduate in summer, so I'll have some time on my hands soon, and I intend to invest it in voluntary nature conservancy work in my area.

My dream job was to be a paleontologist or Egyptologist but the schooling is so pricey and I would have to go out of state for it.
I settle for preschool teacher I worked in that field for 20 years.

I just want to work part time while making ponies the rest of my life

This way I still have time for my 2 kids too

I just don't like the healthcare system cause I can barely get any insurance I can afford

I need something I can use right now, not something I have to pay every month AND pay thousands of dollars just to activate and then have ridiculous bills if I try to use it

Capitalism makes me not want to do much and I never really had dreams to begin with

Work-wise not much has changed during the pandemic
Still have my main work order but my extra ones went away with the shutdown but I'm okay with that and my paychecks will be slightly less

The stimulus has me like buying extra pony merch I normally couldn't afford though lol
