G1 Basic Fun Retro Ponies: A Collector's Guide: CELESTIAL PONIES and 40th Anniversary

Don't know if anyone can see the image or not, but Unicorns & Pegasi have been found at TJ Maxx and Marshall's! Excellent news for those of us who haven't been able to find them.

Oh geez I just ordered my earth pony set off amazon! Oh well I had amazon gift cards. Time to find Marshalls and TJ Max!

Hello Everyone! I have some questions about these Basic Fun releases:
- I'm from Italy, so I can't find Basic Fun retro ponies in stores. What's the best online shop for buying these ponies from Europe? (I think Target and Walmart are for US only... Or am I wrong?).
- The listed price for each pony is $ 9,99 here, but... on Amazon their price is much higher, and it varies from pony to pony. I suppose it depends on availability of stocks. Last month Glory's price has gone up overnight from $ 12.99 to $ 17.84... Is it useful to wait for the price to drop in the same way? Maybe due to a new supply of stocks... (I'm expecting a more favorable price for Butterscotch; now she costs $ 18, while for example Cotton Candy is almost half her price)… Is this a hopeless waiting?

I haven't heard from anyone in Italy, so I'm not sure what sites would ship there. Target has no overseas operations that I am aware of. I don't think we have any active members from Europe, you may want to ask the Arena or a facebook group.

Or find someone on here willing to ship them to you. You could buy on an American site and have them shipped to one of us Americans or Canadians, and then pay the shipping from there.

From what I’ve seen a lot of the Euro collectors have been getting them from collectors in Canada and USA and paying for shipping.

There’s a few people here that I’m sure can help you out. Unfortunately I only have access to the first set of ponies and maybe a few scented rainbows and the Pretty Parlour.

Amazon UK has them, although they are indeed a little more expensive than the american prices. Most are £10 ($12.30) but the y3 rainbows are even more. Still, shipping from amazon uk should be cheaper than from north america ^_^

Personally, I've been waiting to see them in physical shops, since I'm in no real rush.

EDIT: Glory, as an example

It’s hard to say what the prices will do. I don’t have any sense of how many ponies of any sort are still in warehouse or production. Some of the fluctuation in Amazon’s prices comes from different sub-sellers setting different prices.
Anyhow, if you can’t find a less expensive option, I’m willing to ship you any ponies I can get my hands on, though only using a tracked service with signature confirmation. If you’re interested, I can give you a shipping estimate.

Thanks to everyone for your disponibility!! Actually, it seems amazon ships to my country with no problems. It's clearly stated in each pony's page: "this item ships to Italy" (in the opposite case, it is clearly specified that shipping to my country is not possible, as for some 2nd set rainbow ponies available through third-party sellers). And it's possible a free shipping on eligible orders. So, I tried to add some ponies to cart and I verified that there isn't any shipping cost... Perhaps it will appear in the last step of the order? Or, will I have to pay custom duties when items arrive to me?
I was just worried about the variability of pony prices, so I wanted to know if it is useful to wait for them to come down ... but maybe the matter is more complex than that!!

So much depends on the popularity of each pony and whether they're still being produced.

The shipping costs aren't listed until after you enter your delivery address ^_^ Sometimes it'll tell you on the item page, but that's not super reliable...

Amazon's gimmick is their subscription service, called amazon prime. That gets you free shipping on almost everything they sell, for a monthly fee. But some items have free shipping anyway (they just take longer to arrive), or you can sign up for a free trial and then cancel it before it charges you (or even just after! they'll refund you, if you cancel right after noticing the charge :)).

I can't offer any guidance on whether to wait around for prices, though. Honestly, I doubt online prices will come down below $10... But it's possible. I think if you're eager to get cheap then you're better off looking for folks who bought them in shops marked down, and are reselling :/ I wouldn't count on it, yknow? ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

If you plan on unboxing them, the Amazon warehouse items are a good option. They give heavy discounts if the packaging is damaged or if it was previously returned. They don't last long, though, so it's hit and miss.

Thanks to you all!

Thanks a lot, ElpuntThing!!
I followed your advice and canceled my amazon prime subscrition just in time!
And I verified that shipping costs are added when the form is filled with your delivery address... and the amount gets almost doubled!!
So, i realized it's better purchasing these ponies from amazon italy... It's possible to find the beautiful 5-pack as well as other ponies I wish... Free shipping is available, as well as other promotion discounts, so, making average, the cost for each pony is around 10 euros (11 dollars)... It's not bad!
I think it's the better solution, rather than buying through other people in US... there could be always some customs tax...

Thanks again!! :satisfied:

Good to know I helped ^_^ I'm glad you were able to get them! :D

I was on the MLP Collectors group and someone has found the 5pack scented year 2 rainbows at Ollie's(I will check mine tomorrow) and I found a 3 pack Collector ponies at Rural King. I can go and retrieve what I can if need be!
