MLPTP EVENT BLOCK PARTY: Never Have I Ever - PONY EDITION!!

Yes, because any pony I don’t have is a wanted pony :p I have a collector’s store and an antique mall I hit up every now and then to see if they’ve got anything. I’ve also gotten done stuff from yard sales.

I also remember going to Target and ToyRus in search for the first re-released ponies. I eventually found some at Walmart of all places.

Yes!! I did it all morning, thrifting, TRU and Walmart’s :rolleyespony:.

But this is something I do a lot in my free time at least biweekly. What is my life even? Lol

Its Wednesday somewhere in the world. @CJFullmer

No I haven't done that. Target is far, faaar away. In terms of walking distance anywho.
Have you ever done that with ANY stores? It doesn't have to be Target, I just used that as an example answer so everyone would know how to play.

Yes! One day, my caregiver took me to four different stores (3 targets and a toys'r'us), then, after she was off we ended up taking an hour long bus ride to yet another target, where we, finally, found the sought after pony. <those were the days>

Yes, I have. I was fortunate to have access to other Walmart stores' inventory counts when G3 was really gearing up because I worked there 2003-09. But I have been to every Target I can get to looking for these Basic Fun! retro releases! I've also been to every GameStop for series 2 CMCs and the retro socks/mugs/tumblers, every Marshall's and TJMaxx for the Loyal Subjects figures (got a glitter Sundance that was opened and left behind at one store :surprisepony:), and have been scouting out how many Ross stores are nearby to look for the retro canvases.

ETA: I also go to two different flea markets every Sunday if it doesn't rain and try to stop at every thrift store we pass en route to other places (if we have time).

"Round ONE: Never have I ever ...gone to EVERY pony carrying store in my vicinity to find the pony I wanted."

This is a good one! Unfortunately for my area, we don't have a lot of Targets and Walmarts around... my closest Walmart is a 30 minute drive! BUT, there is a shopping center with a Target, Walmart, JoAnn's and Michaels in the same area... but it's a bit spread out! So on the day I found out that the Basic Fun ponies were hitting clearance at $2 each at Walmart, and the new rainbows were just being sighted, I knew I had to begin ... The Hunt! I packed up a backpack instead of a purse to make it easier to schlepp my purchases from store to store, and I began walking!

I hit Target first, found some cute CMCs and some great toy stuff on clearance, including a fluffy Valentine's day unicorn! No sign of the rainbows, so I continued to Michael's, for general crafts and the hope for pony clearance. (They still carry the Funko superhero G4 minis, remember those?!) Not much luck there, although I found some cute stuff on clearance anyway, you know how it is! Then I breezed through JoAnn's and got a bottle of dye that Michael's didn't have (and searched for cute pony fabric, of course! No luck!), and tightened the straps on my backpack. Although Target, JoAnn's and Michael's are all connected by a sidewalk, Walmart is across several parking lots, and uphill both ways! In the snow!

Once I'd made my way through the geography-defying Double Uphill Snowy Path, I found out the tragic news: my Walmart never even got in the Basic Fun ponies to begin with, so they didn't have any on clearance! Why, Walmart, why!? Why would you do this to me, personally?!

... but then I found an Equestria Girls figure for $2, and I swung by another Target on the way home and found the Basic Fun Twilight I'd spent several months searching for! So, it all worked out in the end! ;]

Yes! I did this with the first set of the 35th anniversary ponies. I went to all the closest Targets in my area to find them.

Yes! I did this recently looking for all the 35th anniversary ponies and pony artwork from Ross. Still haven’t found them all.

Yes. As a matter of fact, I did this yesterday. I have ventured out across the border to multiple Target store to find my anniversary ponies. I've called every store within a two hour radius looking for ponies I need. Yesterday's mission was to Ross in Bellingham looking for the pony artwork. When I called the girl said they had a bunch of different MLP pieces, but that they "Weren't the 'classic' big eyed pony style." I took this to mean that they didn't have the G4 artwork. When I arrived, the girl I had been speaking to, took me to the aisle and they weren't even MLP at all. They were just random horse and unicorn prints. Doh! Foiled again.

YES! When the G3 promo packs first hit the stores. You better believe that I went to all my local stores to find them. I even looked when I was visiting a then boyfriend in Oregon where I found them at last! I ended up buying several since there were different two-pack pairings and had to buy a box for them and check them with the airline. The box never showed up in the luggage claim and I thought I may never see them again. I had to contact the airlines support to track it down. They told me the box missed my connecting flight and ended up somewhere else. True to their word, they tracked it for me and it arrived at my doorstop a few days later.

I also hunted all the Targets in the area when the G3s released holiday specials (Valentine's, Halloween, Easter, Christmas). I would buy 3-4 sets since I had to get a set for me and for a few people overseas that I was acting as an intermediary for. I don't remember everyone who asked for sets but I do know that @drusilla was one of them.

Does it count if it was thrift stores/flea markets? I'll regularly tour my local shops to see if they have any ponies for resell. Sometimes I luck out - I got a beautiful Beach Ball for 50 cents once! - or, sometimes I find fakies listed for $20/pop. It's very hit-or-miss, but I love the thrill of finding a pony in the wild!

Yes! I went all over trying to find the 25th anniversary ponies as a preteen. Never found the Rainbows but I got the Collector ponies.

(Sorry to be slightly late... my mental health really required a long float in the pool yesterday rather than getting online :winkpony: )

Lavender Letters is impressed by the pony collecting commitment of our members! Onto the next prompt!!

"Round TWO: Never have I ever.... put off house work to clean my ponies!"

I have done this multiple times. I put off mowing the lawn last Tuesday because I got new ponies from the thrift store and obviously they needed to be cleansed immediately. I mean, think of all the germs they could bring into my room if they weren't clean! Sunday is usually my house-cleaning day, but if I get new ponies or mine are looking like they could badly use a spa day then, um...sometimes the house-cleaning gets pushed out until the late afternoon (I'm actually doing this as we speak because I washed Sea Swirl and Meadowflower's terrible stringy hair in fabric softener and now I need to brush it out).

Excuses excuses...cleaning ponies is just way more fun than house work.

I probably don't need to mention that when I was little my priorities were definitely ponies > housework. I don't remember it but I'm sure I got in trouble multiple times for neglecting my chores in favor of pony cleaning. I do actually remember that my mom got so fed up with my habit of using all our shampoo and conditioner on my ponies that she bought me a separate bottle of each to use so I wouldn't waste the people shampoo and conditioner hehe >u<

I can't say that I have put off housework for ponies. I skipped meals, stayed up late, and didn't do other activities, but my ocd keeps my house clean. I couldn't clean my ponies in a messy kitchen anyways. Yup, I'm a bit crazy. o_O

Oh I have done this. I needed to clean the kitchen and my bed room but a new box of ponies came in and well the were just begging for a spa day. So baths hair washing and conditioning and brushing and lastly styling. So house messy ponies fabulous.

I’m doing this right now...instead of packing? Perfect time to start an Etsy account and learn the ropes about that. Wet vacuum the carpets? Nah clean collection instead. :lolpony: Move boxes to the car? Paint customs instead

Yeah, done this before, especially if I got a lot of ponies at once. Hmm, I should take a bath...(washes ponies instead). I find it very satisfying and relaxing.
