MLPTP EVENT BLOCK PARTY: Never Have I Ever - PONY EDITION!!

...no I've never rolled on the floor in them. The only lots I've gotten were one that smelled like smoke, one that was all NIB, and one that was 60 ponies which were mostly mane 6 and g3.5 core 7.

No but I have hidden in a pile of them

I haven’t done this, but my husband certainly has! He is the Professional Thrifter in the family and responsible for filling our house with ponies and pony accessories of all generations. He knows how creepy I find the trolls, so he loves to taunt me with them when opening bags for “Show and Tell” after a thrift run. He has also left small ones for me to find—in my purse, my car, my... um... unmentionables drawer, etc.! :eek:o_O

And the WORST (or best, depending upon your perspective) are the decapitated troll heads! Hubby brought home a bag of them from a recent thrift run!

I’ve never rolled in ponies, but I love going to my pony room (aka home office) and reveling in the colors, beauty, smells, and pure joy! The small room is so packed full of ponies—displayed, waiting to be purchased, and so many needing cleaning and restoration—that I can barely squeeze down the narrow aisle of open floor between the door and my desk. When I am feeling blue, planting myself in the middle of the room and stroking, brushing, smelling and ogling my ponies cheers me up! :blossom::starshine::cc::sealight::sunbeam::blue:

Never Have I Ever...bought a HUGE lot of ponies and rolled on the floor in them. That sounds...painful. Honestly, never have I ever bought a huge lot of ponies, full stop. I tend to pick up just a couple at a time.

Puff I have open many pony post 1999.
I see them in the plastic and I like they can't breath must open.

I have not had the good fortune to come across a MOC/MIB G1! I'm not sure if I would open it if I did... maybe if the card or box was degrading?

I've never owned and unopened g1 item...

Yes, I have. Three, technically four, I guess.

When I first got back into collecting as an adult in 2003-2004, I bought a MOC Sugarberry from Darkhorse on eBay for $56 (I thought that was a lot for a MOC at the time) and opened her the minute she arrived. I remembered having her in my hands at a store when I was a kid and being told I couldn't have her, so it was just a thing I needed to do. I also bought a MIP Kellogg's Baby, and my husband's (then-boyfriend) mother bought me the Chuck E. Cheese Baby MIP. I opened them both. (Oh, the days of keeping eBay open in a **SEPARATE WINDOW** in Internet Explorer on my PC and watching the 2,000 My Little Pony auctions as they ended. Impossible to do now with 20,000 results.)

Would I do that now? No. The desire for new Sugarberry would have passed eventually, and I'd have traded the MIPs for mint, opened ponies. I do have plans to open the remainder of my MIB G3 collection. I just need space and a good method of display.

And, as for the fourth... I won a "MOC" Greek Skydancer at the 2008 Pony Fair. She was partially opened when I won her. I entered the raffle on a whim, not expecting to win. A couple of moves later, her bubble glue was so dried out that the bubble was almost completely detached and was tearing the card paper where it was still attached. I made the decision to just take her out to try to preserve the card as it was.

Nope! I don't think I would ever do that. While I do personally prefer loose ponies, from both an ethical and money-related standpoint (because I unfortunately don't have any money trees on my farm!), it would make much more sense to sell/trade it away for a loose version of the pony so that others who collect MOC/MIB stuff can enjoy it, and I can possibly have a bit extra pony money to spend on other ponies even after I buy the loose version.

The only time I might consider opening a MOC/MIB is if the packaging is a danger to the condition of the actual pony. So for example: the packaging is moldy, the packaging is at risk of staining the pony, or if there isn't much of the packaging left to begin with. But if it's in nice condition, it makes more sense (at least to me anyways) to sell or trade it.

Nope I have never found Moc/MiB G1 in order to open it and it's too expensive to buy I don't have much money all of the g1 I've ever found where used But if I did I would probably do what @Ology does if there in plastic
i have to open it they can't breathe in there I would probably look it up first because Moc/MiB
Are expensive I would probably sell Moc/MiB for a used one it would be cheaper then then opening it and have it lose its value if it was a G4 or G3 I would open in a heartbeat
