My new pony, Round 'n' Round, came today! I've heard that it's generally a good idea to clean new ponies you get before adding them to the rest of your herd, but I'm not really sure what a good way to go about it is. I'm assuming letting the pony soak in water for a while would be a good first step, but other than that I have absolutely no clue, especially since my Round 'n' Round's head doesn't come off (glued on, it looks like), and I don't want to risk giving her mould or tail rust. What's a good general procedure to follow for cleaning new arrivals?

Okay, thank you for that heads up, and for the link! I'll read through that right now

I agree with twishy. Personally, I carefully and gently clean her body with a soft sponge and Dawn dish detergent, supplemented with a magic eraser for any ground-in dirt, etc. and also to brighten the color of ponies who have become dull. This cleaning also helps to identify any larger issues that may need addressing (e.g., cancer, mold, etc.). I wash the pony’s hair with either shampoo or Dawn and condition it well with Pantene. Then rinse, style and you’re all set! Be super careful not to get too much water on her so you can avoid tail rust, mildew, etc. I usually put the faucet on a very small stream and hold the pony with her tail hole facing downward. Have fun!

Thank you! I wound up gently cleaning her with a toothbrush and soapy water (didn't dunk her in though), but it looks like I'll have to try that again as I missed some spots on her legs, it seems.
