Could this idea work?

Been pondering this, but I'm not sure if it will work. I love to read the "want to.." forums, but sometimes it's overwhelming. When I have time (I haven't lately), I like to try to find other people's sites to see their trade and want lists.

So would it work if everyone posted a "Want List", and it would be stickied (and put into alphabetical order maybe?). The owner of the list can edit it as they have stuff the want or already got. If a member leaves (we should hope not, but it happens), then their post is deleted. Photos can be added as a link (Photobucket.com is a good place to upload photos!), NOT as a "here's a bunch of photos. See what you want."

Want lists don't have to have pictures, but it would be helpful if anyone in the Sale/Trade (this would have to be specified if it was for sale, for trade, or both in the post) would list conditions and pictures.

The Forum list would be like:

Want Lists
Sell/trade Lists

Maybe there will be a Separate for Sales? Or Maybe there will be a "Quick Sales" forum for people who are in need to sell their stuff fast? Or maybe even an "Advertising" forum for Auctions, services, and reminders of what's on their saleslits (IE "HTF, MOC, etc etc on This Person's Saleslist! Trades Welcome!" or "1/2 Price special on XXXXXXX's sales lists!"

It just seems like a lot of stuff is overlooked, and hard to navigate or keep track of, yanno. Make sense? ideas?

Re:

I came with the same idea just a week ago. I think it would be great.
No one else seemd to think so though. I got no replys =/ I hope this will =)

At least I would think it's really great and a lot easier.

Wow, SS, you're so articulate and business-tounged :) I agree, I like the simplicity of the TP, BUT it would be cool that when you click on "want to sell", it would be seperated (the look/style would be like the page you get when you click on the index) into like (HTFs/MOC/MO) and then (Commons) and (foreigns). I think there's a pretty good distinction between HTF(or better labled-expensive- LOL) and common. And as far as foreigns, that would mean anything outside ponies sold in the US (Using the US because thats where they originated) I know people label their posts, but instead of picking through the garden looking for black berries, you could go to a blackberry farm...so to speak lol

Thats my only suggestion

im with strawberry fair, everyone should look into the RAOPK site and keep their stuff updated. here is a link for anyone who is not Familiar with this.

http://groups.yahoo.com/group/mlp_acts_of_kindness/

BTW, update or start a list in the non MLP section, i know im always looking for someone to take other 80s or 90s toys and very few people post there!

Desert Rose- Oops! Sorry! I really haven't been around and reading a lot lately. Sorry I missed your post, or I would have just replied there.

Strawberry Fair and kasin- Random acts of Pony Kindness is a separate entity all together. It involves separate involvement and a whole new system. Personally, The thought of a Yahoo forum doesn't make me want to join, sans the clutter I would get in my inbox when I already get too much junk as it is. Even if people keep their lists updated, its not the MLPTP. Its something else. I only go to the TP. I only have time for the TP. I don't belong to any other MLP sites because I get confused easily by remembering which person was from which board or group.

I think Questor Star brings up a good point too, and I whole heartedly agree. Questor put it the best when she said, "but instead of picking through the garden looking for black berries, you could go to a blackberry farm". I think by posting lists, people would get more offers, instead of having their posts looked over. If people have a hint of whats in the post, they'll read it. Otherwise, they'll look over it.

there Has got to be an easier way- and keeping it inside the TP, and not have to look elsewhere.

It's ok, everyone missed it ;) I'm just glad they see it now.

As for different salesections I kind of see where you're comming from SS. Most of us here probably know if a pony is HTF or not. But there are newbies here as well who probably do the same thing as they do on Ebay: "VERY HTF Peachy in MINTY condition" ;)

But what about everyones wantlist?
I have seen that on another forum, when you click on the WTB section there is on the top a link that says "Wantlists" and if you click on that you find every members wantlist (in alphabetical order) wich they could just update after they get things or need things.
Offcourse the WTB section would still be used by everyone to advertise about what they are currently mostly looking for.
That shouldn't bee too hard and confusing? But then again - what do I know? =P

RAOK is not a horribly active group, so it would not clutter your inbox terribly. Also there is a list (viewable to members only) of MLPTP/MLPArena name to Yahoo ID, so you can easily check on their ID to find out who they are. Most people sign with their MLPTP/MLPArena name, if their yahoo ID isnt the same. You dont have to use your yahoo account to join, mine is registered to a gmail address.

Also, the Playhouse has a Want List forum, which is for the sole purpose of keeping track of your want list. So if you are a member there and see someone who has your pony, you can potentially PM/email them to see if they are interested. Of course we have a seperate WTB forum there too.
