Hi Friends! I recently purchased a European Flutterbye who was listed as German but is obviously Spanish (cutie mark gives it away). What troubles me though is that it appears the country was scraped off of her hoof—to make her “Spanish No Country”? The plastic on the bottom of that hoof is very thin, it’s rough, and it has tiny holes in it. Have you every seen this done before? On eBay or elsewhere? Would a Spanish no country Flutterbye be more valuable than a Spanish with country identified version?

Weird! I do know that spanish flutterbye comes in "marked spain" and "no country" versions... My best guess is that scraping at the hooves of either of these would let someone resell her as any country they wanted, as long as they were selling to someone with limited variant knowledge. (I haven't been around long, but my understanding is that variants, especially spanish ones, were not well-documented until p recently?)

That’s what I was thinking. I hadn’t seen anyone do something like this before, but I don’t have a lot of experience with variants.

This is a NC Spanish flutterbye. Her eyes are different and most Spanish ponies I've seen have that trait (Hard to explain but it just looks different on most could be just me though :lolpony:) and she has 3 butterflies. Now the hoof thing is pretty odd but it could be a factory error or from play/age/old owner did it. However I'm 100% sure about the origin country since she does look like a Spanish pony.
