I have a lot of odds and end toys I need to get rid of. I really need to stop all this gathering I do. Would anyone be interested in buying Little Pet Shops, Care Bears, Tsum Tsums, Shopkins, Smurfs? Or would I be better off trying to unload them on Facebook. My house is literally full. I have to start thinning things out.

Also... I'm looking for advice on selling. Should I do lots or individuals? It isn't even about money so much as getting myself on track.

I be interested in Shopkins and LPS if you happen to have a great dane that would rock.
I think you should show it on here for a bit then go to ebay or something.
I know I would love to see what you have

I'd think lots are ok. You might get less per toy, but you save so much stress, drama, and cost on shipping.

Less drama is exactly what I'm looking for! :D

I'll post some pics here and see if you guys can help me figure out a price per lot. I wanna be fair and square!

I think we all have a weird hoarder inside us as collectors. It’s only natural to go from ponies to other adorably sweet things.

I need to stop buying “vintage” toys from my childhood with intention on reselling - then just keeping for myself after cleanup and leaving out. Geeze!

Anywhoot! I would say do lots, unless you know someone looking for something specific and they will for sure buy. Saves stress and shipping costs.

Too late. And ya did it out loud too!

Uh oh! Me and mah big mouth.

I don't wanna admit how many toys I bought to resell that have somehow managed to squirm into my collections. :D

Omg, shopkins are some kind of infectious, aren’t they?! You don’t know quite how they got there, but suddenly you have three fans, a lotion bottle, and a candy apple staring you down.

:lolpony:

They keep showing up i bags o' toys from the thrift store! I think they're infiltrating my home.

I is scared.

(The Tuesday I bought a bag of toys unseen and got home with almost a dozen Monster High dolls. They're cute, but I can NOT start another collection. I'd have to live on the roof.)

For me, I have tons of collections too and I have decided that due to the lack of time, health, issues now with sales tax and selling, overwhelming amount of things to get rid of-I am going to have to donate many many of my collections. It will be money major money lost on my part, but I like to think that some child somewhere that normally wouldn't get such fun new toys will benefit. I just can't take on the Tulagirl blob that was created. It has been rolling and picking up stuff for decades. It has to stop and it has to stop now. If I poke it, it will explode. So, I am loading this giant blob on our CRV and dumping it into someone else's lap. I am saving some stuff though. Wink I am not collecting anymore, but I will enjoy the collections I have and want to keep. Lifestyle changes are super tough. I have thought of selling some things in a massive lot on Craigs list. I just worry about being killed. There are so many crazy people out there. Hopefully the killers are in the car/jewelry/furniture categories and my toys will land me with a a safer person. LOL

Not sure where you live, but I’ve had a lot of success from the Facebook buy and sell groups and “market place.” For some reason it feels safer because it links to Facebook and you can see who your buying or selling from/to.

Well, I don't do Facebook. This would only solve the dangerous aspect of selling. The problem is with Ebay/Paypal/Etsy/Craigslist and many other online sales sites you have to deal with these new tax laws as they will be holding all users accountable for them in the US. The fines for not following the tax laws are huge so it isn't worth it to me to have problems by not collecting state sales tax. I have already discussed this with them and it doesn't matter whether you have a store or you are just selling things from your home. The government now says you have to collect sales tax on everything sold in your state. In the past I have had a lot of Texas buyers. So even if I used Facebook, I would have to collect sales tax through paypal. I can't manage all of this as I am federally disabled and they would consider me working if I could sell from home. How would they find out? My sales tax collections and the fact I would own a tax ID in addition to the declaration of income taxes on what I sell which is also required. Good grief its gotten hard for people to just sell a few things to make extra cash. I knew this was going to eventually happen thought. It was just a matter of time before they were going to crack down on this online selling without taxes taken out and declared on income taxes. To be perfectly honest, I can't sell really from home due to my disability. I can't physically do the packing that I would have to do to sell everything I need to rid myself of. I am not able to do all that posting either. I am not really able to do any of it. My husband is so busy, it is clear he isn't going to have the time to sell everything. So, he will sell my big ticket things and the rest will be donated I guess. I can't figure out what else to do. What would be nice is if we could unload our stuff at a store that specializes in resale of toys. There are a few, but they only take certain things and not everything. Sadly, most of them are geared towards boy toys. The funny thing is I have refocused my life so much in the last few months that this is not a difficult decision anymore. I have accepted it. In fact it is going to be so freeing really to let go of all of the extra stuff. Every week we go to our storage unit and clean out 4 boxes which is so hard for me physically, but R2 helps me. I have already sent 16 garbage bags of donations to the Goodwill and I have barely scratched the surface. Yikes ROFLOL

Well, to be honest this has to do with the lawsuit that South Dakota filed against major companies like Wayfair and Overstock for not charging a sales tax online. Then all the states got involved and now we have a very open ended tax law that does not include information for once in a while online sellers without stores and people who may only make 100.00-500 a month on online sales. Really the powers that be that created this mess lie in South Dakotas lap and what they did that had a trickle affect over the entire country. So basically, each state can do whatever they want to the online sellers in whatever category they are in because, there are no exceptions or any guidelines. Now they are saying it will take years for them to get some sort of regulation on this law and in the mean time tax audits are going to become a reality for anyone that sells regularly online and uses paypal, ebay, etsy, craigslist, websites ... you name it. The only states not affected by this new law that resulted from the lawsuit as the ones that don't collect sales tax like Montana, Oregon and a few others. There are not many. The tax audits are for more costly than IRS audits and people are going to be shocked when it hits them. Every state wants money and this is a way to get it out of people. Go in and audit them for online information that is publically collected on everyone that uses the internet and bam slap them with an audit if there is proof of sales. Yikes the whole thing is detering me from selling online in any capacity. Oh and this applies only to sales in which you make a sale in your own state. You wouldn't think, well that isn't such a big deal I will just avoid my state buyers. That is kind of hard to do though if you use ebay or etsy or a website where people can purchase items outright or win them at the last minute. I am one of those "follow the rules" at all times kind of people. There is something that people need to understand though. With all of this online buying and no tax accountability...money has been taken from business store fronts at an alarming rate. Sure because people would rather pay online and avoid taxes. So, rather than pay for something in a store in town and pay taxes, they buy it online and save a bit. This is bad in the long run when it comes to our economy. We must have store fronts. People forget why these laws happen, they don't realize the damage that this online purchasing has caused so many businesses. The sad thing is though that the small company that only does online sales with no store front will seriously be hurt by this tax law financially. So, this is a mess. Amazon is huge and will have the money to lose to tax issues. A small company that depends on their prices to cover their sales will suffer as they don't have a huge amount of money to cushion them. Economics is just not cut and dry. What will help one business will totally ruin another. I am not an economist by any means but this is how I have understood this issue for now anyway. That is only based on what I have been taught about it or heard on the news and its hard to really understand how it would affect me completely. This is why I am hesitant to deal with it. Sorry to have gone on and one about it. It seems to be a huge thing on my mind as of late.

Haha well there are probably a whole bunch of details I am not getting... too. I have a friend that is a finance attorney and I think I am going to contact him. I just have not had the time lately.

Please let us know what you learn! :)
