I used to be a regularly practicing artist, but a few years back something about drawing started just making me so anxious! Not too long ago I started visiting this forum again, and something about drawing ponies seemed very non-threatening. So I went out and bought a sketchbook yesterday, and started this doodle. The last time I drew a picture of my persona I had never had pet rats, but over the past several years they have become such a huge part of my life. Rats are intelligent, affectionate, and totally misunderstood! I wanted to draw my persona with a couple of my best little buddies. I drew her in sharpie and colored with watercolor pencils.

How cute! I like your style (G1s are my fav) and I love the addition of some little buddies, I'm partial to mice myself :) I don't want any in my pantry but I think they're just adorable. I like all little critters, chipmunks, mice, even rats can be cute. As a kid I had hamsters, gerbils and even a rat at one point but it's been years since I had any pets other than a dog. Kinda makes me reflect on that, I had all sorts of pets, birds, bunnies, the rodents, fish, cats, dogs, even a pony. Now I'm grown and could have all the pets I wanted and currently don't have any :confused: I need to work on that LOL

Thank you! I think chipmunks are probably the cutest critters out there. I chose rats because they are very smart and sociable, it's almost like having tiny quiet dogs hehe. The only downside is finding someone who isn't afraid of them when you need a pet sitter!

I'm finding that MLP and pet rats are similar hobbies in some surprising ways! Both cute, around the same size, both come in different colors, both are misunderstood by a lot of folks!
 
So very very cute!!! The rats really make this, I think!! Your lineart is wonderful and I love the texture you created with the watercolor pencils. Very pony and very adorable :happyhearts: :redheart:
