G1 Do collectors actually do this?

Hopefully this seller will regret missing out on the sale she had clinched because it doesn't sound as if she'll be selling those ponies anytime in the near future. She missed out on an easy sale because of greed. There is a lot of misinformation out there. And some people don't want to actually do their homework. It's sad really. I'm sorry, @Leave a Whisper that you had this happen. Some people are so rude.

some people are just for themselves, lazy or both. They dont want to be bothered with how much a pony would cost. I dont think this trend is just with toys its with most selling.

agree for letting the karma bus smack that seller ...

and yea, skybreeze, it's sad our electronic age seems to have left courtesy communication behind sometimes so I hope you have a rebound great pony-hunting experience in the near future

Huh? I think you meant Skybreeze. :)

Okay, I need to vent a little and I fell y’all will understand my frustration and disappointment.

So, on Monday night I contacted a seller on Facebook Marketplace. She had a lot of ponies (sloppily photographed in a bag) but I could see a G1 Windy, and 2 Stardancers and a few G3 ponies. She was asking $25 for the lot. I figured I would take the chance and buy in hopes she may have something I needed. I contacted her to see if it was still available and she informed me it was. I asked if I could meet her on Wednesday (as it was already after midnight and figured I’d respect the Christmas holiday the next day). She insisted I came to her on Tuesday. I explained I was working but would be happy being late for my family dinner and go directly to her after work. She accepted and gave me her address and instructions for where she wanted me to leave the money.

Tuesday night I raced from work to this woman’s house, got there about ten minutes sooner than I expected. Got out of the car and went to her front porch and found no ponies. So, I went back to the car to double check the address - I was at the right place. I figured I was a little early so I waited, still no sign of her or ponies so I messaged her. She finally messaged me back (after I knocked on the door twice and 25 minutes after the meeting time we confirm). This is what she sent me.

The add was not removed and in fact, it was posted as “SPPU” still. I was naturally very frustrated and annoyed. There I was, outside her house cash in my hands, for ponies I likely already have and possibly spending more $ on duplicates again, but ready for that on the off chance she may have something I need. AND I was now going to be very late for my family Christmas dinner.

Now, two days later I’m still irked and very upset about this. So thought I’d share my little Christmas mis-adventure with everyone here since we’re talking about greedy people. So annoyed. I also want to know who told her she has “rare” ponies. UGH!

Oh, that is so flippin' rude. People and their dirty, money grubbing. Argh. I'm so tired of it.

On another note, I just read a post from a person on one of the Facebook Pony groups who said she used to just throw out ponies in poor condition, because she was afraid she couldn't sell them. Then when she realized she could sell them as "baits" she started keeping them. People like her are the exact reason I want to quit that group and why I hate the world in general.

This is exactly what I started my post about in the first place. I just don't understand why these people would just throw out ponies without even considering that others may have use for them. Even if she didn't think she could sell them, maybe she could have considered giving them away. I'm sure she would have gotten many people wanting them and even willing to pay shipping costs.

I don’t know if it’s the hoarder I have buried deep inside my soul or the memory of being a child of divorce whose mother worked extremely hard to give me the things (ponies very much included) I needed/wanted.

But I can’t bring myself to throw away any toy. Even the blasted 100’s of McDonald’s toys I get in thrift bags with ponies. Mainly because I know someone somewhere wants it for one reason or another. I will always find a purpose, a donation or a child for an “unwanted” toy.

It hurts me to know that these beloved toys are being thrown out. Sent to a dump to rot for 100’s of years. It’s so sad that we’ve become that kind of a society.

I'm pretty much in the same camp as everyone here (echoing a lot of Skybreeze's feelings in particular). Shocked and dismayed that someone would throw out a perfectly good toy - pony or otherwise! - for what might be only a few small flaws??? If you don't want it, give it away or donate it, or something! Unless it's rotting and falling apart, there's bound to be SOMEONE out there, who would be interested in it. Don't toss out good things into the landfill. D: I just... I can't... Well I guess I CAN believe there'd be wasteful people like that. :( Just the wastefulness of it all and the ... I don't know... privileged mindset of people like that, who just throw anything out if it's not "perfect". That they can afford to waste the money, and the object, and don't care about anything else (not anyone else who might want it, not the environment...)

[deep sigh]

I mean, I've thrown things out before... but only if I felt no one would want it, and it had been decently worn out. Purses and clothes, for example, with broken zippers and tears and such. I know I can't keep everything, and if it's falling apart, it really is time to get rid of it. But if it IS in decent condition, I am going to try donating it. ... and I'm getting off-topic.

It's just a sad scenario, and it really does sting, to collectors like us, who love all of our toys.

She couldn't even be bothered to let you know before you showed up? Or at least have the decency to answer the door and tell you to your face? What a rude biscuit. I'd leave a bag o' doggy doo on her porch as a thank you gift. :D

I think she just thinks she has valuable ponies. Just because they're old, doesn't mean they're valuable, as we all well know. I join everyone else in hoping she can't even GIVE the things away, the wretched cheat.

I never throw ponies away, I only take the unworthy ones and put them into the blender and blend them until they are a find powder, then I pour the powder onto my solid gold table and spread them out using my platinum spoons, then I roll up a one thousand dollar bill and use it to snort the pony dust, all while wearing my top hat and monocle.

Believe me. I have thought of many revenge scenarios, many. But then I remember that karma will get her soon enough.
