So I suppose it's time to join the herd, as cliché as that has become. Some background on myself, I am a lifelong lover of horses, and all things equine. So naturally I came across the cartoon in the 80s (I am also a huge 80s nostalgia pop culture junkie) and the rest is history. I am male, and collected when it wasn't cool. Been called an original "brony", which I do not consider myself, just an avid fan. Albeit a G1 to the core fan, I have enjoyed the FIM reboot. Years went by and I passed my collection down to the next generation, yet remain a dedicated fan.

Greetings and hello's! I am Michelle Lysyk from Calgary, Canada! Excellent! Enjoy the forum!

Welcome! Feel free to call me Kal. I'm a newer collector myself; my age let me just miss the G1 show and be "too old" feeling for G3, the current generation is what got me into everything pony. I collect G1, G3, and G4. I agree there is nothing quite like the magic of the very first generation, but I applaud the new generation for bringing the series back into the limelight!

Anyway, I'm rambling. It's so nice to meet you, glad you found the forums and hope to see you around!

Hi Zigzag, welcome to the TP! G1, G3 collector and I'm horse crazy too. :wigwam: Do you collect other horses like Breyers, Grand Champions, Schleich? Or strictly a pony collector?

Well whisper, I haven't collected in decades, just maintain the already old collection I had, my daughter is fickle with collections, wanted it and then decided to have me hold onto it if she decide if she liked it again. I started out with a couple of breyers which I still have. I owned a Shetland pony growing up till it got taken away, then was given a Shetland pony breyer as a "consolation prize". But to answer your original question, I just have my original 80s collection of G1 ponies and a couple of the breyers, though MLP has a special place in my life but I like them all regardless. being male in my life leaves me little room to expand on the original collection without ridicule, so I just maintain what I have, and pass it off as holding onto it until I get a granddaughter to share it with.

aww sorry to hear about your Shetland. :( and well forget those people! they truly do sucketh. no judging here. if its ok for chicks to like dude things then it goes the other way around! :D

Welcome to the board! I'm glad you still have your collection, but feel ire when I hear how hard it is for males to collect Ponies. I know we have all these gender classifications, but I never understood them. A man can be just as masculine loving Ponies as he would be playing with GI Joes. One day hopefully maybe people will stop being such judgmental poops and just let everyone live like they wanna live.

I would like to thank everyone for their support, it's extremely hard not to be under the microscope without judgment. I'm not an effeminate guy, served in the military, seen war, and love football, wrestling, etc. Ponies just happened to fall in my lap as a teenager, and quite possibly saved my life during an extremely trying time during a young age. Its good to have like minded people to chat with.

I am really glad to see more males comfortable enough to join. My son recently joined as well, and he was a little concerned about it, but now he sees how embracing a group this is. Ponies are the other really 'girly' thing I'm into, and I'm so glad he has grown fond of them as well. It's something we can share... That and our love of all things zombie. lol!

Wrestling, eh? Excellent! You into the newer guys or the older stuff? I'm a huge Andre the Giant fan and I have a deep seated crush on El Santo that veers into the sometimes deeply fangirlish.

I like it all actually, both past and present. It was part of the 80s culture, and I'm into pretty much everything 80s. I'm not so much into zombies, except video games, but I will say The Walking Dead definitely has won me over. Side note, I may not collect MLP currently, but I sure did pick up the four disc set of MLP and Friends the complete set, 80s show from Amazon. Long overdue if you ask me.

Hi @zigzag lovely to meet you. Its a funny thing, until G4, male collectors were called "Collectors" LOL, just like the rest of us.... I'm sure youll have lots of fun here, if you have any questions at all just ask anytime.
