Many of you already know this. I tore my rotator cuff last year. They said the tear was to small to be a bother. So I've been added shoulder strengthening to my endless physical therapy exercises and I've been using it regularly. It hasn't gotten any better. At the beach a couple weeks ago I got slammed by a soccer ball in my bad arm just below my shoulder joint and slightly on the back of my arm. Now my hand goes numb every day. I get pain from the hot coal that resides inside my shoulder all the way down to my middle finger. It's so much worse than before. I actually cried. Not from pain. From frustration that this may just be another "learn to live with it" situation. I don't know how many more conditions that cause pain I "learn to live with". It's my dominant arm and I can lift a can of soda. My new, third, orthopedic surgeon is on vacation and I get to see him when he returns. My appointment is September 18th. We discussed a surgery to remove scar tissue, repair the small tear, and check for any other issues. I'm so hoping he'll be able to help. Not having use of my arm for a month in order to have a more tolerable pain level is worth it. The issue is that a surgery may not help since I have a 45 degree scoliosis curve directly between my shoulder blades, and a reverse cervical curve, which are both connected to the nerve network that goes through my shoulder. I can even text or poke out this post with my good hand. It takes forever with my left hand. Sorry, just need to tell someone besides my psychologist. He's paid to talk to me.

That is terrible to hear that your in so much pain Tak. I know how it feels to have daily (and sometime unbareable) pain. :xmashug:

As you know, I have MS and I get burning pain throughout my whole body, severe migraines and now I also have Thoratic Outlet Syndrome which causes the same pain in the shoulder/arm/wrist/hand. Most of my issue is noticeable in my wrist, but then I can’t really feel my arms anyhow so I may have pain there just can’t feel it. Thanks to MS again.

If you ever need anyone to talk to or cry with, please don’t hesitate to shoot me a message. I’m typically around often, I am happy to share my personal email/phone number if you need it. :xmashug:(I don’t think you’d murder or stalk me. ;p )

ugh...

Okay, if you want another avenue, there is an orthopedic surgeon here in Michigan that I can recommend to contact, at the very least:
https://health.usnews.com/doctors/ryan-nelson-868000

He's among the top in the country and is a teacher/mentor to a large portion of current orthopedic surgeons. My experience with him has been exceptional. His office may be worth a call, if anything.

Good luck to you. You're in my thoughts and I am sending good vibes your way.

Oh dear, that sounds so frustrating and painful! I'm so sorry you have to deal with all this. :(

Here's hoping for a smooth surgery with an easy recovery.

Aw, Tak. I so understand. I've torn the meniscus in my left knee and walking is agony now. I keep on trucking, because I have no choice, but the pain is so bad somedays I just want to cut the leg off and leave it in a ditch. I hope they can get you fixed up. Living in pain is awful.

It's why I'm scarce again. Being in pain = depression worsens = foof hides under stairs and bites people. I'm dreadful company now.

You put that pretty perfectly. Sometimes I wish I could pull it off and bang it on the wall until it decides to work right. My Evelyn said that she'll invent cybernetic limbs in college so that nobody else will ever have to feel like this again.

I'm a blanket slug. It hurts to write. I'm extremely bored.

I wander. I wander my whole house, pacing. It hurts to walk, but there's nowhere comfortable to sit (nowhere I find comfortable, that is) so I pace pace pace. Do a little housework. While pacing. My cats follow me and swat my ankles. No lap for them to sit on, what a sad life for them.

I find myself regretting telling the doctor I didn't want painkillers. LOL

I don't sit anymore. I am up busy and then I usually lie down to watch tv. Memory foam is my friend. The thicker the better. As far as painkillers go, no one is going to get them for much of anything now. Even the dentists are not using them for major teeth surgery. You might get a small rx if you have surgery, but not before. Crazy witch hunt has really ruined the chronic pain community's chances of having a day off without pain. Don't get me started.

The only time I feel like I actually rested and don't hurt is that few minutes after waking up after being under anesthesia.

I refuse pain meds as a rule, but they've always given me a small rx after surgery. Without it after my septoplasty I wouldn't have fallen asleep those first few days. Otherwise "grin and bear it" is like "shut up and get used to it". I don't know what I would do without my valium.

It's gotten ridiculous. They wouldn't give my friend Mike painkillers when he was dying of cancer because he might get addicted. So what? He was dying. He had weeks left. Only when hospice started really throwing fits did they get him some meds to help him pass away without agony. It makes me furious. All because a buncha junkies can't control themselves. grr.

I'm like y'all. I don't wanna take the pain killers, but right now I am questioning my logic. It doesn't hurt I'm off my depression meds, but they've stopped working and I can't afford the bloodwork for them to try something else. I'll just be crazy, I guess. I'm pretty harmless. :D
