Hi, I’ve collected G1 ponies for 35 years. Yesterday, I found the attached ponies in a shop in Liverpool (UK) that gets its stock from old clearances, auctions, random places like that. They look like genuine ponies in every way, except they do not have the Hasbro stamp on the foot or the year of the mould. The eyes, cheek blush/freckles, tails, etc. are all spot on. The ribbons are the same. They are packaged simply in transparent plastic bags with no brand name, similar to the way the mail order ponies were received. The green pony with the chillies as his rump mark even has a hat using the same mould as Tex’s cowboy hat from 1986/7.
I’m an experienced second hand pony buyer/seller and my collection is at least 400 different ones so I know how to identify fakies. Are these old prototypes or fakes? I can’t find anything on the internet about them.
There are more ponies that lead me to believe that they are prototypes. I have black with pink hair (in sitting down Bubbles pose), black with blue hair, neither with a rump mark. I also have ones without a mane and tail, similar to some other prototypes I’ve seen online.
Some of the pictures were too large to upload but I’ve managed to put a few.
Please help?
