I have these two Windys that came in a lot. One is white and one is lavender. It has me curious as to why. I think they're both US Productions, nothing too extravagant. White Windy is headless. I just finished cleaning her inside, covered in a layer of rust. And removing her old washer. Poor girl is waiting to dry out.

US Windy has always been lavender. There's quite a bit of variation in her shade plus it's very prone to fading. However, there are rumors that there is a white version of her. It's never actually been proven to be anything more than fading or batch variations but there are those who swear that she does exist; so, there's quite a bit of controversy over it. Here's a link that mentions the controversy and talks about the shade differences: http://www.etherella.com/scrapbook2/windy.htm

Your lighter one appears to have a pale lavender neck ring and she also doesn't have the blue symbol the people who believe in White Windy claim she has; so, I'd say she's just faded.

Windy's purple color fades very easily to that greyish-white. There is no 'true' white Windy (as in, a Windy who was intended to be white like Glory or Gusty).

Also Windy is just really pale to begin with. She's never a "strong" purple like, for example, Seashell. The Windy on the left there is really nice, one of the most purple Windy's I've seen. :)

I dunno, I remember my childhood Windy being white. I never remember seeing her lavender. It was a shock to me when someone showed me their lavender Windy.

The "blue symbols" are a result of part of the pink/red pigment fading out of the symbol paint, leaving the blue paint behind. :) (Since purple is made of red + blue.)

Similar to how TAF Scoops' purple symbol can fade to blue.

Edit: The same thing happened to this mural that was on the post office in my hometown. It started out with bright colors, but over the years a lot of parts of it became blue. In particular I remember a cow with a red tongue . . . the tongue became blue. Very odd looking cow, lol.

I would think that if you had the ability to look inside the White pony and she was completely white on the inside, then she is a white pony. The lavender Pony will Fade to White but quite often on the inside it's still is lavender because there isn't the sun and the air changing the interior color as fast as the exterior. I have noticed that lavender most often face to a more gray color than actually White. But that's just my experience.
