My WM hasn’t had any MLP since they clearanced the mini world stuff. Found these today.

The Sunny feels cheap. She’s a thin hollow plastic that reminds me of beach/sand toys if that makes any sense.

We finally saw the Zillas at Dollar General as well. They made the bodies hollow plastic like you said. It’s strange. Especially because they’re still 10 bucks like most of the Zillas were. >.<

Wow, I was happy to read the title, thinking "oh, maybe g5 is doing ok after all!" And then.... Well. Maybe not lol.

I was in party City the other day and there was NO pony decorations, I was so shocked!! Are no little kids asking for MLP birthdays? I keep getting the worry that if g5 fails, hasbro will give up on MLP ...

I'm surprised to see the TrU pack in wally world.

Well they gotta send it somewhere here in America. We actually found that last G4 Toys “R” Us exclusive, those birthday packs, over in overstock stores called Ross dress for less. Was the only place we managed to see it since we don’t have Toys “R” Us anymore. (technically a few shops have popped up here in the states now, but it’s debatable if they actually are Toys “R” Us or some sort of marketing scheme. It’s complicated.)

I watched a video on YouTube about how they were going to try to revive Toys R Us starting with a few stores at a time.:ponylove:
Should be legit stores but I’m curious about the complicated information you have? Why are you thinking marketing scheme? Did I miss a controversy?
I’m hoping what I watched was true, I miss Toys R Us

So it IS better now, we have a few stores that are permanent, some of them are small, some of them are like in the American dream mall which is the New York/New Jersey’s area answer to the mall of America with a lot of really huge big things like amusement park rides. But when they did first try in late December 2019, there was a lot of talk about how they were filming you in the store because they wanted to see what toys your kids were playing with and doing marketing research. That has always stuck with me. I found an article from the time period but it was annoying because some of them are pay walled which a lot of new sites do these days unfortunately and I think this is a good one:

It’s always sad when I pass by one that’s a store that used to obviously be a Toys “R” Us here in America. In fact one of our favorite overstock stores, Ollies, has at least two locations we know of that our former Toys “R” Us is. If I had a nickel for every time that happened, I would have two nickels, which isn’t a lot, but it’s weird that it happened twice.

Anyway I do think they dropped the marketing business model because it was not met well, and a year or two later I think is when they really started talking about children’s privacy when it comes to being filmed so I’m not even sure if it’s legal to do that in many jurisdictions but I don’t know anymore. That’s well beyond my knowledge.

I sadly haven’t been in a Toys “R” Us but once since they folded. My fiancé managed to go a second time, but they didn’t believe him when he said he was crossing the border in order to go to a TRU and detained him until after closing time and he had to try again the next day >.<

Parts of your story made me laugh a bit and also it made me angry, filming children should be illegal nationwide. If I found out my daughter was being filmed without my knowledge I’d be livid.
It really surprisingly soured me for Toys R Us in general just to hear that. I get the marketing bit but that was stupid for many other reasons.
& they detained him?! They can technically detain for any reason but jeeze.

There's a small TrU section at my local Sears in the mall. We can't expect a lot right now from them. It'll take a lot of time to get a national giant chain like that back on its feet.

Yeah when I use the word “detain“ I mean they stopped him from crossing the border and questioned him a little longer, it wasn’t like they cuffed him and brought him down to a police station or anything. It’s just when you cross the border and they ask you the question about your reason for a visit, they didn’t quite believe him. It was very annoying for us that night and I wasn’t even there at the time, he ended up calling me later to tell me what happened.

And again the article I linked is from 2019 so hopefully the majority of them are regular toy stores. I just personally have not been there to vet them nor have been to that one that was actually using footage for marketing purposes. I just remember the articles from then making the rounds. I’d gladly go into one right now. In fact on the way back from a recent trip, my fiancé did show me a picture of a very very tiny one in the airport. Still don’t know if they’re gonna end up being as big here in America as they used to be, but one can dream for future generations. <3

i found zilla izzy and sunny at dollar general and finally found zilla pipp at ollies!
