Let's talk about hand sanitizer...
This should be a decent topic (and relevant in everyone's life).
I'm not ranting, mostly asking for advice because I think you are pretty smart ladies.

Potentially we could educate Each other on what to look for when buying Hand Sanitizers (Alcohol Free, Types Of Alcohol, Percentage Of Alcohol) and if anyone wants to share what Hand Sanitizer they use, that would be cool.

I couldn't find any Purell and BathAndBodyWorks.Com is constantly sold out.
I'm not sure if I can totally trust Independant Dollar Stores, which are basically totally out of Hand Sanitizers...

I went to 7-Eleven and I bought several "Premium Nature" instant hand sanitizer and it says "Highest Protection" but didn't reveal the alcohol percentage content on the back.
Fo ingredients it shows the first few ingredients as "Isopropyl Alcohol, Water, Aloe..." and other ingredients to many to mention.

On their website, it shows "62 % to 64 % Alcohol."

Their Amazon reviews are horrible!!!

(You could look it up because I couldn't post the link)

At Rite Aid I bought several Hand Sanitizers called "BAC-D Sanitizer."

Bac-d is for Bacterial Defense. On their website they say that their product is "Convenient gentle way to kill germs and bacteria - alcohol free, water-based, fragrance free - without the use of harsh chemicals or artificial additives that can dry and irritate your skin" but there isnt any mention of viruses.

Now I'm worry that I just spent money on products that might not even prevent the Corona Virus. But I would prefer to know that they aren't something that I can rely on, rather than trusting them and becoming infected.

Before having a meal, I use Soap and Water to clean my hands...
Instead of washing my hands every time before I have a snack, lately I have just been using Hand Sanitizer.
I could use these products, at home, just to clean up my hands.

From what I read, my interpertation, the CDC states that the FDA suggests people need 60% Ethanol or 70 % Isopropanol in Hand Sanitizer, in order for them to be effective.

I wouldn't want to Resell it online, because then my customer maybe trusting their life to the product and I don't want to have that customer to be let down or risking their life...
I'm not one for throwing anything out...

I'm looking for advice on what to do (use it outdoors or just when snacking at home) because I think you are pretty smart ladies.

Personally, I would enjoy the Bath And Body Works Holiday Season Scented Hand Sanitizer, lol!
If you want to share your favorites, please feel free too...

We can't really recommend anything beyond the CDC's official guidelines on hand sanitizers and their use. In my opinion something is probably better than nothing but if you're strictly looking to protect yourself from Covid-19 you should stick with CDC's recommendation of at least 60% alcohol and the old reliable washing of hands.

Hand Sanitizer Use Out and About
Cleaning hands at key times with soap and water or hand sanitizer that contains at least 60% alcohol is one of the most important steps you can take to avoid getting sick and spreading germs to those

I try to wash my hands as often as possible and especially before and after eating, using the restroom, touching my face, etc. I'll use hand sanitizer in the smaller in between times, like handing back a insurance card but nothing beats handwashing. Another big thing I try to tell people is to be aware of your hands and what you touch. So many people come into our office wearing gloves and continue to wear them while digging out their wallet from their purse or messing on their phone and it's like what's the point? You do realize you're transfering anything on those gloves to all the stuff in your purse and wallet right? I have a clean hand/dirty hand method I use, for example when I go to/from work I will use one hand for all my public surface touching, usually the left. I touch the door handles, they keypad, anything "public" I do with my left hand until I get to my desk or car. Then I use my other "clean" hand to grab my keys or whatever is "mine" and then when I've gotten to wherever I use the clean hand to use the hand sanitizer on my "dirty" hand. It's just a matter of awareness.

I haven't been outside and needing sanitizer beyond what i normally have on hand. i usually have a good stockpile at work because i handle money and things people eat/put to their mouths. that being said i wouldn't trust anything myself that is less than 85% for my hands, but that's just what i use on a normal day.

i was about to say the same as gingerbread, just follow your country's suggestions. norway says 70%+ so that's what i follow. we're not doing mandatory masks here either, so it's different from country to country.

gotta say i think the most useful information people didn't seem to 'know' here is to wash their thumbs and up all the way up to their wrists and well inbetween fingers and jewelery too. i've had too many jobs where good hygiene is so important all of this is second nature to me, so it's scary to see reponses on public polls and stuff people are taking to see how many % wash their hands after this and that D:

The best thing you can do is follow your country's recommendations.

Everything above and remembering to clean under your nails when you wash, the backs of your hands between your fingers... etc.

WHO and everywhere else are stating that you must have a high alcohol content to kill the virus. Australia has so far been very fortunate not to have the disasters occuring else where. The other thing most people don't think about is cross contanination. I have a fragile immune system so I am use to doing these things but most people don't think about it.

If you go out, when you come home wash your hands before you do anything else. Then clean your keys, your door handle, the door handles of your car, your steering wheel, your hand brake, gear stick etc. Anything you touched before you touch anything inside., then wash again! Doing that decontaminates your enviroment. The issue being the virus can live on hard surfaces for quite some time and if you touch them then you can transfer it from one surface to another and to yourself.
