I haven't been able to log on here recently cause I had my gallbladder and gallstones removed a week ago. The doctors told my mother that the galstones were the size of gold balls. Since than I've been staying in bed and slowly recovering. Still in pain at the moment but the pain medication is helping me heal. Just wanted to drop by and see what's been happening around here. I miss all my Pony friends! Hope you're all doing well and having a lovely week! :CJ:

I hear gallstones are incredibly painful. I'm so glad you were able to have them removed safely and are healing up! Get well soon!

HUGS!

I'm so sorry to hear that Sam! I was diagnosed with advanced gallbladder disease late last spring, after months of episodes of horrific pain. I actually went in for surgery less than two weeks before the 2013 MLP Fair, and how I even made it there and through both days is still a total mystery to me. I didn't really feel back to myself until about a month after my surgery, but everyone is different.

Did you have it done laproscopically? That really cuts down on the healing time, from what I understand--they were able to do that for me, so now I just have 4 relatively small scars to show for it. The best thing I did for myself while recovering was to drink a lot of water, take everything slowly, and just stay quiet and rest. I loaded up my e-reader before I went in for surgery, so I just spent most of my downtime reading to pass the time.

I hope your recovery continues to go well, and that you're feeling better soon! :winkpony:

Yeah it was done: Laparoscopy and I kinda freaked out when I woke up from surgery. Before you know it I was out like a light and woke up pretty quickly afterwards and don't remember anything that happened. Good thing was that I got to leave shortly after the surgery and got a lot of rest once I got home. Tried to lay down in my bed but I could lay all the way back cause it ached so much when I tried to lay all the way back.

Thank you for wishing me luck. Slowly I'm coming back to myself, which I'm thankful for. Now I have to withdrawal from the pain medication which is a drag. Continue to keep getting these painful headaches for some odd reason. Hopefully they'll end up passing cause headaches are something I don't deal with well. The scars are barely visible and they're small but I'm sure they'll be gone over time. Thanks for all the warm wishes!! :flutter2:

Glad that you're recovering, and I hope all continues to go well for you. :satisfied:

It's always a blessing to have people around~ No one should ever be taken for granted.

Any surgery is difficult for the body. Give yourself plenty of time to heal and get healthy again. We're all rooting for you!

So glad to have you back!

Apparently I woke up from it and asked if I was alive LOL. But like you, I also didn't have to stay too long at the hospital, which was nice.

Part of the pain I hadn't expected was that during the procedure, they inflate your abdomen with gas, and not all of it gets out before they're done, so it actually rises through your tissues and for me, ended up in my shoulders. Unexpectedly painful, but it only lasted about two to three days, for me. I stopped taking the prescription pain killers after about 4 days, since I just don't tolerate them well anyway and was happy to be rid of them.

Headaches could be related to the anesthetic, or some medications, from what I understand. I would definitely make your doctor/surgeon aware of it either way, especially if you're concerned. And um... be aware of the digestive issues that (very normally) happen after a cholesystectomy. That's all I'm gonna say. :surprisepony:
Keep feeling better! :)
