Hi, I hope this thread is in the right place. I need to wash some beddy bie eye and piggy ponies that are rusty, I brushed the eyes with a tooth brush and soap, also with lemon and vinegar, and the oxide went out but only in part. I think I need to pop out the eyes
Did you ever poped out the eyes of a bbe or piggy pony? Can I replace them again inside their place? I'm a bit scared if I ruin the ponies forever :(

I have never managed to remove the eyes without breaking them, but then I was planning on turning them into NBBE; so, I wasn't being especially careful. I did see a thread over on the Arena where someone restored a BBE that was extremely rusty. You have to be a member to see the photos, but here's the link if you want to read it: http://mlparena.com/index.php/topic,387329.msg1656157.html#msg1656157 They did a fantastic job, but it sounds incredibly difficult.

Thanks, Breyer! I'm a member of the Arena, though I couldn't find anything between so many posts.
I looked at that tutorial carefully, I have the patience to try to make that but not sure about being able to put the eyes back inside the hole D:

I'm sorry I'm not much help, but I would check the mlp preservation project site. This is what they have on beddy bye eye ponies: http://www.mlppreservationproject.com/symbols.html
Yesterday I was checking out that website, I have to say I've learned a lot about pony restoration and conservation xD

I' afraid cleaning the eyes from the outside is not enough, so... I should try!

By the way, I have these photos of the piggy and how brownish she has the eyes :/

Oh, good, I was hoping you'd be able to see them. I remembered reading that thread when it was first posted which made it a bit easier to track it down. Good luck getting your piggy cleaned up!

Well, when it comes to a Nirvana I wouldn't do anything yikes. I would be scared. I had a BBE that had rusty eyes and all I did was put CLR in the eye and it took care of the problem. Now she looks fine, but she was not a Piggy, she was a BBE and if a mistake happened I wasn't out a whole lot of money. With my composition dolls that have tin eyes or glass eyes in a tin base I actually use sewing machine oil on them to remove the rust over their eyes. It works like a charm, but then again they are not ponies and I have no idea what machine oil would do to a piggy pony.

Sure, I should try first with the BBE. Anyway, having a piggy in a bad condition is a pity, so sooner or later I should try. I trust in my lot of years of experience cleaning ponies :lolpony: (if I finally do it!) though I'm pretty scared, I promess, who says I'm not. I'm not a crazy beginner experiencing with nirvanas.

What does "CLR" mean? I've heard about using even coke because it disolves everything, but I don't want to try anything blindly.

Oh okay you are in Spain. CLR is a chemical we have here in the USA that removes Calcium Deposits, Lime deposits and Rust. Thus, CLR.

Maybe you have a similar product in Spain that is safe to use on plastics? CLR is quite strong and I have had it ruin things that I left it on too long. So, for me a treatment is a quick one and not a soak. Sadly, I have not had much luck with CLR and rusted pony tails. For whatever reason it can't get the rust out of that hair, but it removes it from the bracket? So weird. Must use products like these with gloves.

I see! There must be something similar in my country. We have a cleaning product that's called "Cillit BANG!" and it kills almost everything xDD
I'll be very careful and make photos if I finally decide to go on :S
Thank you!
