There is a lot of great G5 concept art, but then there's this...

Excellent point XD
That extremely-human face and neck on a horse's shoulders is genuinely uncanny-valley.

It's true that they want the ponies to be less horsey (going for a g3 or g1tales direction?) in the story, but based on the concept art they seem to be wanting them to look more horsey. The hooves are more defined, they have fetlocks, the ears are more proportionate, about half of the drafts have longer snouts, etc. That's what gives me hope that G5 toys will be better than G4, especially for the first couple of years compared to recent ones, since they'll be trying to make a good impression.

Well, Hasbro (or rather, Megan's team working on G5) don't know what the concept artists work on until they show them, + they give them free artistic will to come up with new interesting ideas (for example, Twilight with the star on her forehead) - or at least that's what I believe they do, it usually works like this with different concept artists working on one show, so that's why the Mane 6 has more horsey designs (r.i.p. applejack) And toys? Well... I don't want to be very pesimistic, but I believe they won't be as good as - for example - G1 ponies. This ComicCon Twilight is quite 'special', but she still looks (material-wise) much much worse than G3 ponies. And the retro Mane 6? I have some McDonald vibes from them.
Sorry if this all sounds very un-possitive and like some crazy rambling, but I don't have much hope left in Hasbro nowadays. They can sell low-quality toys and people will buy them... but I'l try to say something possitive, and that's the fact we will get ponies with different builds, sizes, more variants, etc. which might be truly great ^^

We understand that pessimistic feelings toward it tho-because we feel the same! Hasbro's performance in the past decade has given us reason to feel blah about what's to come. As long as Basic Fun has ties to Hasbro for a while I'll be happy with that, no matter how bad the toys yet to come are. But we know nothing yet, so who knows how it'll turn out.

I'm glad I'm not the only one who is repulsed by that concept art! Unfortunately, no matter which way I think of it, if Hasbro is intending on moving further away from horse/pony-like designs, there it is right there in actual concept art.

I dearly hope that G5 looks absolutely nothing like that.

Can you imagine how upset people would be?? Like I think even Bronies would be mad about that.

That concept art reminds me of the Netflix SheRa reboot everyone was talking about for some reason... C’mom Hasbro, is it hard to just get actual pony designs that aren’t repetitive? We had G1 and G3, so surely it’s possible for G5?

Are you kidding? They'd be thrilled. :hmph: I've heard plenty of them proclaim hate for ponies that look like ponies.

Yeah. I'd love for animation to go back to how it was.

Its not hard, they're just lazy and temporarily obsessed with the main suxx to the point of obnoxious insanity.

I changed my vote cause of the new toy line xD

I've seen it at Target only so far but didn't feel compelled to snatch it up just yet
