What was it? Mine was Dream Valley back in about 1999ish. I was originally looking for info on the MLP cartoon because the memory of the Quest Of The Princess Ponies episode that I had loved watching at my mother's employee's house haunted me. I wasn't really looking for info about the toys because I didn't think there would be any (I couldn't imagine too many other people besides me collecting them, and much less making websites about them!)...so imagine my shock at finding out otherwise!

I didn't get active in the MLP community until around early 2003, though. I lurked for at least six months before I got up the nerve to post anything. The first board I posted on was the old ezboard MLPTP. My name was Lamb Chops58 back then. Then I went to the CF and eventually, the Ghetto. I don't really post on any other boards...three is enough to keep up with!

I think I found the sites through Yahoo or Hotbot...Google wasn't the giant it is now back then I don't think. Dream Valley and the MLPTP were always the first sites that would come up on the list. I remember pouring over the pages of DV in sheer awe and jealously of Kim Shriner's collection and her pages on the cartoons really helped. The day after I found her page I bought a copy of the tapes "In Dreamland" and another with "Ice Cream Wars/The Revolte of Paradise Estate" on it at a bootfair for around £2. I got the MLP movie off eBay on VHS for about £2.50 days after. I rediscovered my adoration for the cartoon after watching those tapes.

Those times were so much fun. You could still get great MLP bargins at fairs and second hand stores back then. Even eBay was pretty cheap...I got a Rupenzel for £180...that was one of the first ponies I bought after getting online for my 18th birthday.

What's your story?

Mine's an interesting story. :D

About four years ago I discovered my childhood MLP collection in the attic. A few months later, during a visit to my relatives, my Uncle asked if I wanted to bid on an item on eBay to help me understand how it worked. Just for fun I typed in "my little pony" and ended up buying one.

When I got home I decided to set up my own eBay account, and while I was browsing through auctions, I saw that a seller happened to be located in my own town! I contacted her, and she asked if I ever visite the My Little Pony Trading Post. Being a new collector, I said no, and she gave me the link.

The rest was history! :D

During X mas break back in 2000 - my sister introduced me to the world of ebay

so then i started to search for MLP on the web and the no 1 choice was always www.mlptp.com . Finally in 2001 i joined up. Been here ever since :eek:k:

i found a uk mailing site, ticked off Garej, ran to the mlptp lol.

that was in 03.

eBay - 1999

I then got curious as to what else was out there on the internet and came across Dream Valley.

And others were talking about MLPTP on a Care Bear community I'm apart of and so I joined when I started collecting the G3's back in Feb. :D

Back in the spring of 1997, we just got the internet at home, and I decieded to look up My Little Pony. Top three pages were "elizabeth's ponies", Dream Valley and the Tp. Elizabeths' ponies was a collectors site with ponies I'd never seen before, and I wanted. I saw my First Colourswirl there, and my first fancy pony (those ones covered in lace). She Thanked Kim for helping her name all the ponies, and gave a link to Dream Valley. I spend over 6 hours on Dream Valley when I found it. And then another three the next day. The TP was next.

And then I found out about auction web.....and went a bidding away. Haven't really stopped since.

I was on Deviantart 6 or 8 months ago and there was Frisket. She said she'd trade art for ponies. I really wanted one of her amazing drawings and I thought "Hey Ive got some of those laying around!" I told her I had one right in front of me and described it to her. She said it sounded like I had Princess Misty and gave me a link to dreamvalley. WOW! So many ponies I didnt know about! So I went on Ebay and my first purchase was a CC Cotton Candy from SquirtSquirt. I asked her if she was planningn on selling any more ponies soon and she said probably not, but that when she does, she does most of her selling and buying on the my little pony trading post and offered a link 1 or 2 emails later. Since then, Ive been hooked!

1997...all thanks to the miracle of eBay. Found them there and followed the trail here. :D

I first discovered the MLP customizer's club on Yahoo Clubs. Anyone remember it? ^^

About 98 I was browsing the internet and I found all these MLP homepages and I particularly liked UKMilkyways one and used to visit it, I believed that her pony sanctuary was some sweet little place where she gave them a new life so I sent her a couple I had found at the bootsale, I frightened the bejeezuz out of her because she thought I was stalking her and I was some weirdo(? not exactly untrue) then I started wondering about them and collected them for my other halfs daughter she didn't really show that much interest so it became my hobby and I collected Barbies for her...rest as they say is history.

In the year 2001, I saw the G2 ponies at stores and remebered at my old ponies, which I sadly sold at a flea-market. I searched at the net for My little pony and was surprised, how many people were collecting ponies. The first side was Dream-Valley. After that I registered at ebay. Since 2002 I´m a member of MLPTP. It was my first message-board. I´m member of the Arene and a German board, too. But the at the other boards, I do not post as much as here.

Re:

I discoverd it in 1997 when the G2's first came out. I dugg up my old MLP commicbooks and all my old My Little Ponies (which I thank God keept and in NM condition too)
The internet thing was kind of new to me and I was just 11. So I was thinking maybe there's something about mlp's on the net. Maybe they have a homepage. I did a searched and found Dream Valley which I was so thrilled to see. All those ponies that exicted. I was jumping of joy. So many ponies to collect =P And then I found a link on Dream Valleys link page that lead to the old MLPTP wich was then in the cool colors of black and pink. I thought that looked cool and I started to look around and realized that real live people who also like ponies was sitting there and writing.
That was so cool I thought =)

And that is pretty much how it all started. I even remember the first things I bought from the US even though it's eight years ago. SS Truly and plush Windy :)
And it pretty much went on from there.

When I was 16-17 (summer 1997), I belonged to several Punk Rock/Music related chats and forums. It was fun, but the harsh attitudes made me post/talk very little. I started looking around for, uh, safer? boards to post on.

At the time I had recently moved from TN to WA, and had not really made many friends yet. I was collecting G2s and my G1 collection had vanished, except for Windy and Rice Krispie Baby. I had managed to find a few people to sell me ponies outside the boards and ebay (I thought I was too punk rock for ebay, LOL). So I was collecting a few ponies here and there, many never arrived though.

I typed in several of my other interests including ponies to webcrawler and found more sites than I could imagine on MLP. I felt like I just kept discovering there were more and more of them. At this point I found a forum with a chat (but I don't think I ever chatted). I posted there a handful of times, but the people there were as bad as the PR message boards, meh.

Then I found the TP, I guess in late 1997 and bought a few ponies there before being scared away, I guess in 1998 sometime during the summer, due to people taking their toys waaaay too seriously. I was very quiet, I probably posted all of 10-20 times during the year. I breifly found another rainbowy forum, but then I moved and had no solid internet access until 2000, when I refound the tp and bought ponies on a friend's ebay account. By the end of 2000, I had such huge problems IRL, that all collecting fell by the wayside so I could straighten out my life which I had screwed up beyond all recognision.

And again in 2003... I found the tp. And I got my own account of ebay. And then I found the playhouse... and the arena... and ponyville. And so on and so forth, and here I am today.

Ebay was the starting point for finding MLP online. I could not believe my eyes when I first typed in my little pony and hit search. Wow.

I then went in search of more...that led me here and to dream valley.
